Foby, long time since you are seen posting in this forum. Are you not active anymore?
This one was imported just more than a decade ago by a jeweller based in Kottayam. He had a few vintage and classic cars most of which he sold few years back
Whether it will leave kerala or not ,will depend upon the owners interest waxing or waning!!

Re: Classics of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar

Interior restoration of 1981 Model Mercedes 300D, the work is still in progress, find below the pictures for completed repairs on the driver seat which was in a much worse condition than other seats. The same OE leather seat covers are restored including the conditioning and re-strengethening of leather before subjecting it to redying process. The original colour, texture and the glossy finish as how it was when brandnew condition is perfectly restored

Re: Classics of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar

This restoration job is done by Colorglo at Maradu, Ernakulam, they have some special process and materials to restore the interiors back to as much as close to its brandnew state without replacing anything.

That will be a real nice W123 when done. Such cars are a treat for the eyes.
But who soiled the seats in the first place? Luckily there were no tears, otherwise stitching wouyld be required and that shows up.

Cheers harit

Thanks Harit, there was a portion osf this seat with some hard glue on it (may be super glue) which was worse than a tear and impossible to remove without damaging the surface texture and grains of the leather. The guys at Colorglo was able to remove that to some extent and the rest by cutting off, then some kind for filler is used to replicate the texture and grain structure to that area, which got the same characteristics, strength, and feel as the original leather.

Super Glue on seat -

After repairs and redying it is impossible to make out the repaired area -

Anil,
Nice job . A rare and nice color for a W123. Can't you post a thread on the entire restoration process? I'm a bit confused about the rear spoiler. Does it fit into the 123? Its just a personal choice.
Awaiting more pics in a new thread.

Ajay,

Are you aware what happened to this - like last I knew this was left to rust by some one who owned it during late 1960s.

Best Regards & Drive Safe

This Was not left to rust, but it was owned by the aleppey based film production house and was in running condition till mid nineties when it was sold for a very nominal amount to the present owner. It was lying unused till recently when the scion of the original owner bought back the car paying a very handsome figure
