This Mercedes W123 is at my hometown Anand (GUJ). It is a left-hand drive car with automatic transmission. Here are some images of its interior.

Re: Mercedes-Benz W123

Sorry to bring up an oldish thread, but does anyone know the history around this particular Lang w123? I am aware of who the owner is but can anyone help in procuring more info?

This is not original. Mercedes never made a limousine version this long. looks like a crop shop version locally modified.

They did make a longwheel base version. I can not tell if this one is an original or a modified, but yes you could have your W123 as a long wheelbase version

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
From August 1976, long-wheelbase versions (3,425 mm (134.8 in)) were produced. These were available as 7/8 seater saloons with works bodies or as a chassis with complete front body clip, the latter serving as the base for ambulance and hearse bodies by external suppliers like Binz or Miesen. These "Lang" versions could be ordered as 240D, 300D and 250 models (a few long wheelbase chassies were also delivered with the 280E drive train).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W123

They were called simply “Lang” (German for Long).

This is not the original Lang. I never said they didnt make a limo version (lang version) but this car in the picture is a modified cropshop build for sure. I will find some original lang version pics and you can then check the difference.

I am sure that this is. It uses specific Lang doors and after 30+ years, there is no sign of any body flex

Agree, It looks like the real McCoy as fas as I can tell. But then again, I have only seen a couple of these Langs a few times during W123 events here in Europe. But going by size and shape of the doors and windows, proportions it looks pretty good.

There used to be one in Panjim years ago. This one seems to be re-registered.

Re: Mercedes-Benz W123

If you scroll down this link you will come across two W123 Ambulances. These are also based on the Lang version.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/inter...23-parade.html (Drive: From Netherlands to Germany for the longest Mercedes W123 parade)

Further down you can find two images from a proper Lang W123 showing those additional seats. Even thought the Lang is really quite taller than the regular W123 you don’t get much more legroom per passenger!

Re: Mercedes-Benz W123

As I said earlier on, I am not that familiar with the Lang. There are just very few about. I have never seen one in the Netherlands, only during W123 events in Germany have I come across them.

So time to consult the W123-bible. The author, Mark Cosovich, is considered by many one of the most knowledgeable w123 guru’s on the planet.

http://ww.w123world.com

If you want one book on W123 and one book only, this is the one to get:

Mercedes-Benz W123-577785657.009781.jpg

A few images:

Mercedes-Benz W123-577785595.419493.jpg

Mercedes-Benz W123-577785630.216689.jpg

Some facts, courtesy of Mark’s excellent book;

Wheelbase of the Lang is some 630 mm longer than the standard saloon and comes in at a whopping 5355mm. The additional seats could be folded away leaving the rear seat passengers with massive legroom. Many of these Langs were chauffeur driven, of course, and a sliding window separating driver from the rear passengers could be ordered as an options.

They all come with the famous Mercedes hydro pneumatic self levelling system, as used on the T-series.

Engine options were somewhat limited, 250 petrol, 240 diesel or 300 diesel. Gearbox could be specified as 4 or 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto.

Production figures:
250: 5180
240D: 3841
300D: 4679

Interestingly a large number (+/- 7000 units) were produced with partial body for special purpose bodies (e.g ambulance)

Re: Mercedes-Benz W123

there were several 123 240D Lange in Delhi with the Rashtrapati Bhawan, some were auctioned off, but they still might have one, though it can no longer be used in the Delhi, NCR region because of the NGT order.
