I'm seeing a W123 ambulance for the first time in India.
Not sure whether this is modded or the factory one.

The details are in the below link

Most of the issues you mentioned can be sorted out easily.
Procuring the parts is the main problem I faced while restoring my W123. I still have to work on the suspension and full body paint. TLC and brakes are done.

Suspension parts bilstein and lemforder are available in Dubai, Clutch also you should get. I got Lemforder/Bilstein from Dubai

Take care of the bubbles first as these are probably areas of underlying rust.

New Brake calipers are costly. Pads are easily available locally and in online sites. I believe there is ATE and BENDIX. Please take a look at what you have before ordering. Also for older models, the caliper is little different I was told.

Cladding is costlier online, I have seen cheaper ones in facebook groups and local USA online market places.

try searching in Team-bhp and you should find posts which mentions spare parts shops in mumbai opera house and Delhi.

Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks,

They are quite rare and much sought after the world over. Whereas any W123 tends to be one of the most affordable and easy to maintain classic car, the estate or T version is rare and commands a hefty premium. Other than the pneumatic suspension, mechanically it shares most of its components with all other W123s.

Certain parts, notably rubbers and gaskets are becoming an issue and might be very difficult to source.
The same is true for the Coupe version.

Yes indeed! Way back in 2017, I had seen a W123 long wheel base in the parking lot of Hotel Uday samudra, Kovalam. It looked abandoned, so I asked at the reception, and the guy told me that it is their MDs car. If I remember right it had a KL 07 registration and the last four digits were 7007. It had a cheap looking wooden vinyl floor and there were traces of water ingress in the cabin.

Will try to find some pictures.

Here are the pictures I had clicked. Also, I had got the year wrong in the above post, it was actually 2015, not 2017. As cheetahrd had stated, I was told that the car belongs to the film actress udaya chandrika, whose family also owns the hotel I spotted the car at.

Used to see this at the workshop for old Mercs, on the side of bypass, if I am right near Chackai junction.

Of course it was around 2015, as the bypass works haven't started yet at that time.

Sure it is the Udaya Chandrika/Radha's?
My buddy whose family are friends with the actress's used to always go ga-ga over the car when we passed it on the way, but he had no clue whose it was, actually we thought it was a local chop job and was left to rot.

Yes, I vaguely remembered being told that the car belongs to Radha/Udaya Chandrika, so I searched up the cars number plate on the vahan website, and it indeed does belong to her.

I had spotted the car at the parking lot of the hotel 'Uday Samudra' at kovalam, and I later found out that the hotel belongs to the family of Udaya chandrika.

Re: Mercedes-Benz W123

Kerala is one of the places where car fanatics know their thing and are committed to upkeep.
I saw one of the rarest W123s on OLX, a 300 turbodiesel US spec with the OM617/A engine.
