Great car imperial, I suppose it is a 1983 to 85 model atleast the square headlights seem to suggest unless they were upgraded like many others. The car looks to be well kept, is it an automatic? How long have you had it.

I looked for one for a while and gave up as all of them needed ground up surgery and were not accurate. dashboards tend to crack and I wanted an automatic, found a grat one owner ferrari red car but it was rusting in its underbelly was told would cost more than its value to fix and bring to showroom condition so gave up any leads you have. cheers

How difficult is it to maintain such a car & is it worth spending a small fortune on it?
Has your dad owed this car for all these years?
Can you post some interior pics?

A very nice 123. Well mainatained, hats off to retain such beauties. Infact its one of the best Merc which has got the three pointed idendity.

Dude, its not so difficult to maintain it, especially if you are in Mumbai as the spares are very much available there, both geniune & as well as duplicates. And many engine parts match with Matador 307 engine. I love to have one if I get one more parking in the apartment, all the three are filled as if now.

I've bought a 300D a year back for my friend in Chennai & used it for couple of days, its really a masterpiece in build quality & engineering. Its one car thats build to last!

one of my fav benz's of all time. THey drive like a dream. No new benz after the tank had this feeling, and the tank also barely had it! The new benzo's drive like bubble gum.

Great car Imperial. The car is a beauty and drives like a dream. I have a 240D and a 230c both W123's and they are dreams. They are a perfect blend of comfort, class and toughness all put into one. IMO the best Mercedes built.
The cars are not atall expensive to maintain and the spares are easily available and not very expensive too.

nice............

that's a great car, imperial. nice to see such cars being well maintained. so many of these cars are mauled beyond recognition and having one in its originality is a rare thing. i love these cars and have a couple which i try to keep to the original, as far as possible.

Lovely car. It looks in great shape. Although LHDW123s were introduced with Rectangular lights in late 82 they actually came into production with these changes in late 83 or so. The 300D was a five pot engine introduced in 1982.

These were my all time favourite mercs. Built like a tank with a go anywhere capability. Handling is superlative and parts are easier to find than most of our Indian made cars.
It is practical, economical and also shod with the usual creature comforts you would expect in a daily drive car, eg. power steering, a/c (and also an optional auto) and good power.

My 83 300D is an American spec LHD with cruise control and the works. All 300Turbo diesels were available with only an four speed automatic box. I still prefer to drive it as a daily drive as compared to any other car.

I just love a W123. Preserve this car, it will serve you for many many years to come.

A W123 is a car with character. In all its possibility if you maintain it fairly well, it can outlive you!
I own a W123 , 300D and I agree with their tagline "Engineered like no other car".
