What car is BMZ 3735?

Nice to see all the old pictures. Things were less complicated in those days. Today's rallies are so complicated with traffic woes, rival clubs, member woes and people trying to get one up on another.

Thanks KPS the fact you say about ralllies is true.Thats a 1951 Sunbeam. Model details I will post later.

I had been to Nagpur on Monday(1st Nov) and happened to see a wonderful vintage car (looked like a Model 'A' to me from distance) opp dhantoli park, parked beneath a porch of an old bungalow

I inquired with the watchman and then inspected the car which was a Sunbeam tourer.

I spoke to the owner of the bungalow,a wonderful gentleman who showed me his other two vintage cars.A V8 and a Vyvern.He said he is also restoring a GPW and a Willys station wagon.

That should be a Sunbeam Talbot 80 4 door saloon. The 80 used the Hillman Minx based engine with ohv.

Some more from the 1988 Rally. The Ford Model A was completing 60 years then (a 1929 model) and was so aptly labelled "Saath Saal Ki Budhi Ya Jawaaan?", meaning "an old woman of 60 years or a young girl?"

Saw this mercedes benz "Nurburg" near hingna naka. The man behind the wheel said the car was from Mumbai and was here for overhaul of engine as a part of restoration. the car was very-very silent, had a huge tank and the work was being carried out at shree automobiles in ramdaspeth. Does any one know what model it is, I just saw Nurburg in the radiator grill.

City.



A Morris Minor -its fitted with a Maruti 800 ORVM on the passenger side. It has a Mark 4 bonnet chrome ornament above the Morris logo. It was an import from the U.K. in the 1960's by Dr Pradhan who had migrated back to India.The car was sold to a garage owner and may have changed hands again now.The original paint was moss green and can be seen behind the outer green flakes!!!





1929 Austin Seven owned by the same family since new. It was first bought by Dr Rangilal, a famous doctor of Nagpur of yester years. It was then in 2004 owned by his son Dr P.R.. Singh, also a doctor, who passed away a few years ago. Dr Singh is not featured in this picture above, but the person seen is his family member.The car was very well maintained always with its originality in mind.



This Morris 8 was owned by Shri Laljibhai Patel, but has been sold out recently.

This Ford (1929) Model A too is a first owner (family) car with the same Chavak family since 1929. It is based at Chhindwara (M.P.) and has attended every single V & C Rally at Nagpur since 1986. The family drives down to Nagpur during the event (130 Kms) and have become a part and parcel of the event.
