Hi,I am going back to the year 1980, I had gone to ooty for my HONEYMOON and there I had seen large nos, of CABS at SHAH and NAHAR blds. I forgot the name of the round about. But I still remember large nos. of VANGUARD VELOX.black and yellow cabs, in superb condition all of them, the drivers had told me that velox is good to climb the hills as compared to Ambys.

Sirjee- there was no such car as "Vanguard Velox"! Velox was a 6 cyl. car by VAUXHALL. VANGUARD was from apna STANDARD!

But since you mention Ooty cabs, they were by all means Vanguard. Harit and somebody else had posted pics. earlier of a couple of those too.
Ironically I dont remember coming across a single one when I visited Ooty as a kid in 1988, '93 and last in '96! :(

Seen this car and he is still using Indian jugaad conditions of putting the car on the road. Credit to him and seen a few times around.

Hi, Nivicca.....the first red fiat in your first picture is my car and it is my dad who is in there.....this is the car car i have started to restore recently titled "Restoration of MDN 6494 - In remembrance of my father. My dad passed away exactly a year ago on March'23. It is my father who is walking another car in a cream safari suit.
Thank you so much for these pictures. It brought tears in my eyes seeing our car and my father, he loved our 1955 fiat which we for more than last 50 years. Thanks once again. It was a pleasant surprise.
