Media Matter Related to Vintage and Classic Cars

Various news reports, letters, pictures and the like appear in the print and electronic media about vintage and classic cars and bikes. It is hoped that enthusiasts will post such matter of relevance on this thread. To start with i am posting a letter by my friend that appeared in BS Motoring.

Here's a parking lot from October 1961 in Coventry, UK. This picture has appeared in Practical Classics, UK, Spring 2009 issue.
It has many cars that can be very easily identified as they were seen on our roads as imports. There are some Morris Oxford Series II's and III's around, a Morris 10 (here as the Hindustan 10) Ford Zephyrs, Ford Anglias (1940's and 1950's),Austin Minis, a Citreon, Hillman Minxs, a Jaguar and many, many more.Sadly the image had to be cropped to fit in here.

The write-up accompanying the picture goes on thus:
MEMORY LANE Market Way Precinct, Coventry, October 1961(Practical Classics, Spring 2009)
Coventry's post war network of pedestrianised shopping precincts were the first of their kind in Europe. By the time our photograph was taken, the major works were finished and with a nice touch of irony, the centre of the British car industry was about to become a car-free zone.
Given the location, it's probably not surprising to see an almost entirely British line-up-even that glamourous Citreon DS 19 sticking out of the left hand row was probably one of the Slough built examples. Otherwise, Essex built Fords are about as foreign as you can get here in Warwickshire. There's a Mk II duotone Zodiac half way down on the left and a Mk II Consul next to Mr Hipkin's sausage van.
Luton gets a look-in with that F-type Vauxhall Victor near the camera on the right hand side, with an earlier EIPV Velox next but one along.
Honours seem to be evenly split between cars from the Rootes Group and BMC, among which we counted three Austin A 40's and two of the first type of Hillman Husky. That's a two tone Series III Morris Oxford with the very period metal sun visor, a couple of cars beyond the Citreon and there's a ZA MG Magnette further away.
Strangely, there are no Triumphs to be seen and only one Standard , the Phase III Vanguard almost opposite Mr Hipkin's van. Brown's lane has a couple of representatives, with that massive MkIX Jaguar six cars on the right and an earlier 3.0 litre model lurking a little further away, dwarfing an Austin A30.
Incidentally, if seeing this photo has tempted you to visit Coventry's pioneering Precinct, you'd better be quick- plans are afoot to replace it with a 1 billion pound (UK) redeveoplment.

In the same issue of Kolkata on Wheels, there was also an article on Mr. Dossa which is below. Unfortunately this page was too long, last lines got cut off.
I have seen that Austin 7 of his, in Pune in the mid 1980's, dumped in a courtyard with the engine removed. Hope she has survived.
Also news is that Mr. Dossa is now the President of VCCCI, than what is Mr. Bhogilal? Just wondering when VCCCI had any meetings to change status of office bearers.

Cheers harit
