Sorry moderators for starting this thread.

Rally took place on 30.May.2009 at Ooty.
Cars from Coimbatore and Kerala participated.
Newspapers have reported with photographs.
Good collection of cars seen at rally.
Appears that the rally was not covered by our members.

Please delete this thread or merge with 'classics in ooty' by caddy.

stampro, I was unable to be there as I was not in town, I was cursing myself all the way when I was driving back from Cochin.
The show was a grand success and there were a lot of participants.
Need to find out who the organisers were and can probably get them to share some pictures.

Hi All,

I am new to teambhp, I was there for the Ooty Vintage Car show 2009, there were a lots of vintage/classic cars and jeeps and also vintage/classic motorcycles and scooters. I participated with my Vespa 150. Will upload the pictures shortly.

Just posting a picture of the classic scooters/motorcycles, the vespa 150 is mine, 1970.

Lamby 150, BSA, Lambretta Li 150, Vespa 150, and AJS !!

Unfortunately, he seems to have gone underground since then. We would appreciate more photos, especially of the Series I Land Rover that was present at the show.

Nics pics of even nicer cars. Is MDN 564 a V8 or a Model B.

Also the rims on MSC 5215 don't look original.

Never knew Ooty had so many lovely cars. Once an aging Raja told me a story about seeing Gayatri Devi in a Darrin Packard in Ooty. I should think he may have mistaken a regular coupe for a Darrin as none apparently came to India. Any old timers from Ooty should remember her there during the racing season.

The same Raja also told me an amusing story that as a young man when he met Raja Dhanrajgirji in Ooty he was told, "as long as you sport a moustache make sure its turned up"

When I quizzed him about other interesting cars he may have seen in his lifetime he remarked "Ah once I was strolling along the Marina at Madras and saw some people gazing into the bonnet of a what appeared to be a Cadillac. When I looked in I was shocked to see a massive V16 engine" !!! So there you go V16 lovers...some fodder for your Sherlock brains

BTW I can't get over that grass in the Ooty car show pictures, wow!!!

Those are great pics, thanks for sharing. Nice to see the red Fiat back to steel wheels from alloys.

The 2 Kingsways are looking particularly regal in those colour combos. The maroon car is an earlier generation than the blue and white, though I see a hint of a larger fin at the rear. Strange, or the picture is playing tricks on me. Any more views of these cars?

Any more pics of the green Amby and black Fiat?

Not a bad idea Karlos. Ooty is a gorgeous hillstation for a concours a la Pebble Beach style. Coimbatore nearby has quite a collection too
