Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

This is another photo of this Hudson. Its has two doors, so a convertible or a chop top.
I have no idea where she is now, but a fantastic car.

Cheers harit

Apparently the agent was active, there seem to have been many cars.
Strange number plate, though.

Cheers harit
Harit is that another LMP registration?
Cheers

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Gents,
A friend of a friend of mine took this photo in London in 1948. I guess it was some British civil servant type returning home after independence.
Cheers

Some of the other "India" cars spotted in London / U.K. include:

Hillman Minx(MSW-9574); VW Van (WBD-6714) and a RR SG

I have MSW 9574 listed as a photo from Cedric, though as usual I cannot find it at the moment. Any pics/history of the other 2?

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Karlos,
WBD was taken by the friend (not friend of friend) in London about 1964 and is a temporary number. I guess being on a VW camper, it is hippies but who knows.
MSW is again taken in London by the same friend in the 60s. It's a Hillman Minx so must have been taken to India, used there and returned to the UK.
Cheers
Cedric

Sadly not, scrapped probably in wetern India. Car was in UP for a while, moved west and scrapped. Engine had by then gone, and she was fully rusted. Somewhere I have a photo, she was white in colour.

I can confirm it's a 1947 year make. The 48's had round tail lamps.

I like Ford A saloons, these are now quite rare. This was a Bombay car.

It appears that this parade was proceeding from the Mysore palace (a common starting point for public processions and such), through Ashoka road (It was not a one-way in the early 80s) and turning onto Irwin road.

Wonder what this procession was for?

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

A trike probably in Pakistan. The registration is KAP, black letters on white plate meaning that it could be a hire car. And maybe in Karachi. Can anyone make out which bike this originally was? The rear passenger box gives the idea of a 'Woody'.
The car on the upper right also look interesting, I have not tried to match the make. Looks European, but maybe also a Kaiser product. It is LHD.
Just noticed that the bike's headlight has the upper half painted black. Wartime?

Cheers harit
