I am researching the pre-independence registration plates of India and would be very grateful if you could confirm the 1928 Ford and 1938 Ford registrations. It would help greatly. The '28 looks like JS but that is a code I have not come across before. Do you have any idea where JS was?

Many thanks and keep the old photos coming

Hi,

thanks for your comments. These two fords were used by father who was working in Gwalior state from 1944-1947 and later on in Madhya Bharat state.
I have asked for details of cars registrations etc from my father and will update you soon.(My father is now 89 years old and not keeping good health but I have asked my Mother to find out from him).

Both cars were used in central India's towns ,Dhar,Mandsaur,Indore.

regards,

Uday Naik

Hi,

thanks for the interest in our Beauties.

The last photo is of my eldest brother with Mom & PoP ,I was not around then. However,I know that this was taken in front of the Rest House in Vidisha, which was part of Gwalior state then.

The second photo of Ford 1938 ,includes me & my brother with our mother taken on way from Dhar to Indore around 1952 .

The third photo has my younger brother Santosh on the bonnet on way from
Mandsaur to Neemach in MP around 1957.

I thought only I was nostalgic about these good old cars but am surprised at the response.More photos of the old era tell us about the nice landscape & jungles we had then.

Let us keep up the good work so that more people can enjoy these memories.

You mean '56, right? The previous "small finned" ones came out in '55.

Any idea who the people in this photo are?

Attached is a pic, I think it is a Rolls but not sure. There is certainly Indian Royalty involved and some Britishers. Comments would be welcome.

Karl, purely Off Topic. At times like this, I feel the Mods need to relax their rules a little. There are lot of historians, enthusiasts, collectors who are browsing through Team BHP,without contributing. Is there any way we can invite them over & make them a Disinguished BHpian to start with ? They may not like the Newbie tag. I know the forum rules are applicable for everyone, but this was just a wild passing thought.

Very true, believe me, almost all the big guns (and small of course) are regularly browsing the forum, extracting plenty of information as well as leads on cars for sale.

That really wouldn't be fair. And if someone is put off by so trivial a detail like "Newbie", then it is better to keep such egos out! Sad but true.

Spot on Karl.
Firstly, the choosing of who to induct as a D-Bhpian or not is entirely up to the Mods and I do agree with Karl on this comment.
Our forum has been so successful and popular without fanning the egos or any particular person, for any specific reason.
And you said right dominator, no bending the rules for "Anyone"

Let anyone who has to contribute, do so without any ego problem. They are all welcome.

Tuchha,
Many thanks for asking your mum about the old Fords. Most kind of you. The JS registration may be Jobat in Central India but it would be good to have it confirmed or denied.

As for Newbies, we will always be known to be new (and make mistakes) as it states how many posts we have made. Who cares what BHP name we have!

All the best to all and thanks again Tuchha
