Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Here is an interesting picture of a large bungalow in Ranchi. may have been the residence of a British Maj.General in the then Indian Army.

Question is, what car ?

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

A MG TC in bygone era. Since they had not much space to fit a radio, and apparently miniature casette players were not around or not loud enough, the way to go was to lug a big player on the shoulder. These girls seem to be enjoying themselves. Is this car still around, BMX ????, ?
Since the spokes on the wheels are clearly visible, I doubt that the car was driven when the photo was taken.
MG's in young days were fun. Somehow still quite desirable.

Cheers harit

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

We owned this Sunbeam Talbot from 1951 to 1985. Daily driver from HPS Begumpet to Chirag Ali in Hyderabad, friday's at Fateh Maidan, Turf Club during races. I am sure DKG would remember this car and some others on the forum. I have been trying to locate the car last 20 years without any luck. Would anyone know about its existence or present ownership ?

Is this lady in short hair and sari the owner of the car and also a teacher in HPS? Then most likely this car is with a collector in Hyderabad.

Did the Mahatma own a car ?

The following two snippets are from the "Motorsport" magazine, July 1946.

Did the Mahatma ever own a car, or did he just travel in this Leon-Bollee ???

The Delhi Silver Ghost may be ex-Kalsia Chassis 29-ED. Car was at the Queen's Silver Jubilee Drive past in 1977.

You are right Mohammed Bhai. That's my aunt who was a teacher in HPS. I was told years ago that the car could be with Mr. Aga who owns a restaurant opposite Mahaveer Eye hospital, could never confirm that ? We were in boarding school and the car was sold in 1984. BTW , do you still retain the 1952 dominator APY 423 with zalzala written on the rear number plate ?

Thats Mrs. Anwar Hussain who was my class teacher in seventh grade in HPS.

For a long time they lived in the shcool campus and this car was in the garage behind the house, we used to sneak into it and play driving it.

They then moved to Banjara Hills and the car was sold now in a collection

On the mark Wasif. She still continues to live in Banjara Hills, the garage behind the house was just big enough to accommodate the car, parking was tight and one had to open the driver side door very carefully . Who owns the car now ? Would love to go over and have a look during my next visit.

I have a clarification:

The picture is taken at erstwhile Nasik railway station and not Jubbalpore.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

While this is my favorite thread in Team Bhp, I sorely miss seeing any pics old Bangalore. Thanks to FB, some new pics of old Bangalore are appearing.

Below is the Pic of Town hall, one can notice that Canara Bank H.O is still not built!

So beautiful the roads and the circles were back then!
