Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Couple of pictures of Pt. Nehru in Kashmir, this one below looks like pre-independence , as the former PM looks much younger here (found on google)

Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars-nehrukash_60.jpg

The picture below I am not sure but I feel it hasn't been posted here before, has Sheikh Abdullah and Pt. Nehru with a bevy of Bureaucrats, described as
"Photo taken during the Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru's visit to Kashmir in May 1948 "

The car to the right looks like Mercedes, and there is another car which is partly visible at the left side.

Found this picture on http://photodivision.gov.in/writerea...nails/3738.jpg

Not very clear in the pic, but the grill area of the jeep looks rather empty and barren.
Could this be an early slat grill Willys MB ?

Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars-willys_mb_early_slat_10.jpg

Has anyone seen any slat grill MBs in India?
I was told that there were 2 in Hyderabad, once upon a time.
One exported and the other, a parts donor vehicle, was supposedly scrapped.

Nice find. The Beetle I suppose should date between 1958 and 1962, since its a square window with the Wolfsburg crest. The black crest was between 1960 and 62 I think, and the light blue one was pre-1960. The turn signals too are the earliest tear drop/streamlined variety, I think introduced in 1958 upto 1962/63.

We have seen this picture years ago and discussed it, though I cannot find at the moment. The car with the front visible should be a Silver Ghost, and the other I think was identified as a Napier oweing to the visible chain drive. Subject to correction, I am not certain.

The chain-driven car could be a Daimler too. I have not followed the earlier thread where these cars were identified, so don't know if the id as a Napier was established. Don't have the time to google now, so going by on the off chance, since it has a chain drive, and Daimlers did too.

Some short searching later it seems this isn't the first time the post was repeated... and my response was equally vague then

Yes, its a Standard flying 8 tourer. If its pre-1945, the car may have a '38-39 model. Similar one found on the net:

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Here is a car with circus performer Pete Mardo. The elephant and its head dress look Indian. The car is RHD.

There is no reference of him in India, however.

Can anyone identify the car ?
