Some updates. The Rolls is the 1927 Barker Tourer GRJ1, sold by the family in the 1950s or 60s, and presently in a Delhi collection. Interesting to note the fender design has changed over the years, and the cowl vents are absent in the older photo.

I just realised that Faster789 had shared this lovely period photo of GRJ1 (shot in the 60s maybe?). It still shows the different style fenders compared to what it wears today - wonder which were original?

Spoke to Bhpian "Sarojesh" from Calcutta, and I was told that

"Calcutta had/has two kinds of taxis- yellow & black for Calcutta and yellow for all Bengal but this still doesn't explain the two tones colours at the outer row"

I think this will need some more research.

I believe the Dodges were badged only as Kingsways. Interestingly in 1954 you could buy a saloon in right hand drive, and a convertible in left hand drive
