Yes but unfortunately that was short-lived - I remember reading somewhere that HM had Addisons stop assembling them so they (HM) could bring out the Baby Hindustan in the same decade.

This is a 1948 Chevrolet which was bought by Col. Papatla from Kolkata and registered in Cuttack. Col. Papatla was an ophthalmologist and later shifted to Hyderabad in 1956 and the Chevrolet got an APY number. The car was sold in 1972 to a lawyer, few years later his son wanted to get the car back into the family but by then the lawyer had sold it to someone else who plonked in a Perkins.
