The car seems to be 1934/35 Vauxhall Big Six (rare convertible sedan)

Couple of picture of Alice Boner from India

Courtesy : Museum Rietberg Zürich

From Wikipedia
Quote:
Alice Boner (July 22, 1889 – April 13, 1981) was a Swiss painter and sculptor, art historian, and an Indologist.

In her drawings she used pencil, charcoal, sepia, red chalk, ink, and sometimes pastel. Her early works focused on drawings, sculptures, portrait, full body studies, landscapes and nature observations. The artist also harbored a great fascination for the art of dance and created motion studies of the three dancers Lilly, Jeanne, and Leonie Brown as well as the Indian dancer Uday Shankar.

Between 1926 and 1930, Boner made trips to Morocco, Tunisia and India with the dancer Uday Shankar. She decided in 1935 to migrate to India.

Interesting is the background, appears like the view of Mumbai from Kamla Nehru Park. When was that park built? Could not find any info on the net, the Hanging Garden was created in the 19th century.
Also the lady and the gent, she has some resemblance to Devika Rani, who must have been often in Bombay for shooting movies. And the guy looks like a star too. Any ideas?

Cheers harit
A step closer, we can identify your image as a publicity still for the 1930 movie 'Educated Wife', also Grihlaxmi starring Sabita Devi and Jal Merchant

This is a photo of my grandmother Gladys Allen in the early 1920's driving a Maxwell car in Calcutta, India.

Her husband is beside her, their two children in the back seat with cousins visiting from Ireland. On closer inspection and searching for the emblem on the internet, found it was a MaxWell, an American car.

April,1975 on Malabar Hill, Bombay. I purchased the 1933 Chrysler touring Car for $1500.
I checked the value of USD/INR in '75, 1500$ would be approximately Rs. 12570/-
