Fellow member deutscheafrikar chanced across the Sanghi corporate website, which features some nice (if small) images

The M. K. Sanghi Group

This last image appears to be shot at the National Defense Academy (NDA), at Khadakwasla, Pune.

Did you notice that Sanghi Motors was a Chevy dealer in 1959? So when did Bombay Garage stop? Or were both dealers at the same time?
Did you notice the Tempo monogram on the upper level of the building? And the vehicle just about seen in the showroom on the right side is a Tempo three wheeler.
Interesting.

These pics apparently are very old as they show a Lady in White (my Guess Queen Victoria ) waving to the crowd , though i am positive that these were shot in Calcutta.
There is also a pic of a rolls , possibily part of the same convoy which is carrying passengers or something which i cannot make out.

It is amazing that my Grandpa has left behind such a fabulous collection of pics and i am very happy and proud to have inherited his legacy.

Salman

Salman,

The first picture in the post - definitely Calcutta, at what is now called the BBD Bag (Dalhousie Square)

I think the building in the background is the Royal Exchange Building (Currently National Insurance Building) in the background.

The central arch of the building is very characteristic - maybe Nizam related. Similar structures are seen in Aurangabad too, I think in the Ambedkar university.

Hi Harit,

Could this be superimposed picture?

Something is not quiet right in the picture. Looking at the girls both appear to quiet young and unless they are both nearly 5'5" plus they can to be taller than an Herald

1st I thought the car may be scaled down replica, but the other Fiat in the picture compares in scale with Herald, so it has to be the real one

May be the photo angle is giving this impression

Any comments?

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

No such luck. Truth be told, it is simply a low car. Here is one from my family albums for comparison.

Karlos,

Thanks

I think I am too old.

You know we also had an Herald in the family for about 14 years (30 years since we disposed it). I am short so my memmories of the height of the car is relative to my height and is not as sharp as it used to be.

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe
