Looks like it may have been white then (Popemobiles usually are white). Also read somewhere that the car was gifted to Mother Teresa on His Holiness' return.

There are a couple of videos on the Net. Looks like he mostly used the Jeep and an Impala.

This video shows the Continental and a few other interesting Bombay cars.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Here is a picture from the Paigah's of the Deccan FB page.

The young Prince Mukarram Jah is seen learning Hyderabadi Tahzeeb in teh company of his mother, his nanny and Maharaja Kishen Pershad.

There are two nice looking cars in the background that must have been from the Nizam's stables.

Can anyone identify the cars ?

Is that Bombay Police on those bikes or other private security ? I do see pistol holders on their belts.

Yep that's what I thought too. If they are the police then they are lucky cops to have those machines and the bikes look to be immaculate condition. Then came the Bullets and now the little 100 cc and a bit more maybe. Maybe Harit or Karl :P will tell.

The police definitely used Tiger 100s amongst other bikes at the time. My 1956 Tiger was first registered to the Police Comissioner, Bombay. We can see Police riding Tigers even in the Amitabh starrer Don.

Going by the four strakes on the bonnet side, the "Godess" hood ornament with raised knee; and the bullet headlamps, the car in this fabulous picture seems to be a 1934-ish Buick

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Found this on a facebook album. A pic. of yesteryears' Telugu/Tollywood star (late) N T Rama Rao with an early Standard 20 van, probably during his campaigning for the formation of the Telugu Desam party in the early '80s. However, he had travelled in his Chevy van christened 'Chaitanya Ratham', pics. of which I'd posted earlier.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

At some place, some event, someone took a bike and jumped over a Beetle and a Standard. For him to keep these cars as props to be jumped over indicates that these vehicles were not of any significant value.
How times have changed

Cheers harit

I just noticed that this image may have been posted before, was it my image? Anywhere, where was this?

Well, I knew my school from all angles

This is a Mercedes 300. Colour scheme is quite peculiar, and its stands out. I have more pictures of it, but always side profile. On a hunch, this could have been a Sanghi car.
The persons seem to be having some guest, and a showing an ancient site. Can anyone identify this archaeological site? Two pictures posted, one with the car enlarged.

Cheers harit
