But when are you digging up your ancestral Morris Minor!

Edit - try getting hold of period photos of the Daimler and other cars in that side of the family as well.

I especially enjoyed the Herald pics.!
But I wish you'd sent me the pic. showing the car in full from the front (family05.jpg), wouldve looked far better in that article I'd done on your family's Heralds for the Triumph club once. Car looks best in that!
Incidentally, I also recall you telling me your grandpa's car always had the whitewalls but your dad used to flip them inside-out whenever he was bored?
And of course the colour wouldve been Winchester Blue & Sebring white, typical colour scheme on early Heralds.

some images of the Shahpura, Jhalawar cars..

1st pic - Grandfather with his dane, he went to Uk a few times in the 30's - 40's visited most of the racetrack & hill climbs. We still have his large collection of racing/ car books & some 16mm film footage of silverstone.. unfortunately about 800' of film was stolen in UK when he was about to board for India. :-(

2nd pic - MG purchased in London for gbp 200, will try & dig up the photo of this car in taken in London.

3rd pic - Late late Jhalawar

Last pic - this vehicle in Jhalawar was nicknamed 'Dal Badal', grandpa is on the extreme left holding the dog.

I found this online sometime back. I recall it being the Ichhaporias, a Parsee family. Any idea what car that is?

Old neighbours from Lucknow gave my grandmother this photo when she visited them recently after 30 years. Anyone from Lucknow recognise this?

Awesome pics.

Though I am not a vintage buff, never the less i liked the Buick and the morris.

Its not just the cars, its also the history which these pics tell which makes these pictures priceless.

Thankyou very much for putting up these pics here. Also thanks to GTO for providing the attachements option so that the pics will remain here for ever. May be we can show our next generation as well about the cars and people in india in those days.

Great pictures Sat and Karlos, thanks for sharing. GTO that Merc remains the classiest this side of the 60's. A friend has a similar. Have you retained the car?
