Unfortunately not! I was only 7 when this car was sold in scrap for a couple of thousand bucks. Part sourcing was a huge problem, Dad used to ask my uncle from Germany to send wiper blades and shocks.

The picture looks remarkably similar to the Daimler 1912 30 hp posted by JulianUK in the Daimlers in India thread.

Awini you are a master sleuth!

Sorry for the tardy reply, Karl. Was overseas, and upon returning had to (amongst other things) undertake a trip to Haridwar for my father's final journey in the Ganges.

My compliments on starting a very nice thread. Here're are few contris from me. These (cars) are mostly my parents' own buys that I came across recently, here in Delhi, while ruffling through a box, looking for some nice photograph of my father for enlarging.

There're many more I remember, but lying in trunks (not to mention the house) that haven't been opened in decades. Many more are in the larger family albums that hopefully I'll be granted access to someday (along with visiting rights also to the vehicles that are still around!).

So, here goes...

1. Probably more suitable for the "Standard Cars in India" thread - so could be moved there if so deemed right. Ma with her Standard Super 10 in 1957/58.

2. Papa, my brother (elder) and I with our Fiat 1100D in 1971 (she was allotted after a 6-year waiting period I think - there's another interesting story after that also, but for another time.

3. Ma, bro and I with the Delite again - maybe this car's pix are also more suitable for being moved to the "Fiat" thread.

4. Papa with his VW Beetle in 1961 (his pix are rather poignant for me at this moment. But, he loved his automobiles and what better place than here to bring him to...)

5. My grandfather, with our younger uncles and older cousins (!), and his '37 Plymouth.

Cheers,

I recieved this lovely picture of Marine Drive in an email forward. The latest car I can see is a 53 (ish) Morris Minor, so I guess the picture dates to around there. No Fiat Millecentos yet, so I might be right. Plenty of Hillmans though.

I think the Morris you are talking about is a Cab. Notice the Meter
