The colour could well be period, though cannot confirm. I'm sure though that the finish could be the same, i.e. level of gloss. This one of course is well polished, so stands out.

The 'autorickshaw' wheel cap actually originated in Italy, and was probably an accessory back then too. A similar design was offered on many Italian cars of the era, especially Fiats.

That's a lovely Vespa! Unfortunately, we have no pre-1960 scooters in our Club. But I hear that we might have a surprise pre-1960 scoot attending the next Rally! Keep fingers crossed, hope this beauty graces our next Rally!

When exactly is the next rally?

The next rally will be on Mar. 28, Sunday morning.
We tried to get another venue as the start point for the Rally, but that didn't work out. So we again assemble at Central Library, starting at 9 am. We expect all riders to be there by 10:30 am, latest. If for some unavoidable reason, you are late, you can meet us at Airlines Hotel at 11:30.
The route is similar to the last Rally, but extended. There won't be a route map provided this time, as Arun will lead you at a sedate pace, and the route is straight forward.
On exiting Cubbon Park, all scooters will head straight past Mallya Hospital.
Straight down Residency Road.
Left turn around Mayo Hall, onto MG Road
Left onto Brigade Road
U turn at Sholay circle, onto Museum Road
Straight down Museum Road, righ turn at India Garage.
Left turn after the petrol bunk, end at Airlines Hotel.

The route is simple, you don't have to memorize it, as Arun will lead you, and Gokul and myself will be guiding you as well.

I had once been sent pics. of the red and white Ld (its known as "mk3"), was said to be for sale, at a rather steep price. 'not sure if it has changed hands since.

Today's rally had a good turn out...around 25 scooters. And what scooters! Highlights were the LD 150, and the Vespa Super (MEA 101), which is an import. We even had music playing, courtesy of Suri and the music system fitted in the Vespa's sidecar! Another highlight was the gentleman who brought along his 1950's Phillips bicycle. We have a policy that even those who love classic scooters, but don't own one, are welcome to be a part of our meets. Some of them come on Bobbys, Suvegas, and Jawas, and are welcome to ride along with us. This is why you will see other two-wheelers besides scooters at our meets. Photos:

Once again I congratulate the BCSC Founders for this Rally , It was a very good turn out as always. Here are my set of pictures.

Yes sir! But not every single month...we in BCSC do plan to slow down after our first anniversary, and have a rally every 2 months or so, not every single month. We don't want members to get bored of rallies!

Thanks, Sujith! Gokul (Lambro) got the logo designed and rendered. Arun got the stickers printed, and cut them himself. Hats off to them for a job well done! Gokul also unveiled one more surpirse today...he got coasters made (small pad on which you can keep your glass or mug) with some cool designs (including BCSC logo) on them. I will send a mail shortly with all details of the coasters....
