Hi DKG,

Thank you soo much for appreciating the Dodge, she was restored in Jaipur and delivered earlier in the year, and she drove beautifully yesterday.

The car is missing the door chrome escutcheon s, which have been ordered and will be fitted in the coming month.

I do have pictures of the cars through its various stages of restoration; I will get them together and post the pictures soon.

Thank you, Karl for taking some great shoots of the Car.
Harit, looking forward to the pictures.

The Dodge Kingsway convertible is simply stunning. What an outstanding restoration. Gorgeous car, so stylish ! After the 41 Buick (Dinesh Lal?) I saw at Cartier this is the second car I am seeing finished so beautifully. The detailing is amazing. They almost seem like driven out of the showroom. There's some amazing talent in Bombay. Three cheers to the owners who lavished such amazing attention on their cars. And above all a big congrats to the people who worked on this car.

Since the gentleman is a TBHpian could someone persuade him to tell us the story of how he meticulously restored this Dodge?

Outstanding

Had gone to Vashi for the flag off.
Happened to go to Dukes as a matter of split second decision, thanks to speedy.
The event was very well organised. A good no. of escort vehicles and had a volunteer on the toll booth too. Was amazed at the way the beauties pulled up and down. No stalls on the expressway nothing at all. Infact someone on the forum had queried if the cars climbed up. Fali Dhondys fiat spider was caught on its way back as ML was still cilmbing up.
But all in all a great sunday. Met up with Roni, gogi, karl, egangsta, speedy for the second sunday in a row.

This is an awesome machine. The 1932 Lancia. It was real fun to fly past across all these cars click. Had an awesome time, and the grin which all these owners were wearing while driving was priceless.

Amol, the dodge looks great. Two queries though. Are the front parking lights the correct ones?and what are the two ornaments on the front fenders? You have got a lovely and very usable classic..ENJOY..

Amal,On seeing the pictures of your beautiful dodge some more observations..AND I am open to corrections. The rear bumpers seem odd.Notice the two small lights in the over riders or guards? They are meant to light up the number plate.. But your number plate is much lower. You are also missing the door arm rests. The rear view mirror is also of an earlier period.54 Dodges came with a narrower sleek mirror. The ignition key surround again seems incorrect.I normally dont like to comment..BUT your restoration is so good that I felt I must give you my two penny bit .Overall an excellent job. Hats off to you and your team .

Amal. What a Stunning Car Impeccably Restored!

I look forward to seeing the car during its restoration and would suggest that you start a separate thread to ensure it doesn't get buried in another thread. Karls photos in "as found" condition is a wonderful starting point.

I might suggest your thread read "Dodge Kingsway Convertible 1954 Restoration" or some thing like that.

Again congratulation!
John

The rear number plate for the Dodge convertible would have originally been on the body where the "left hand drive" plate is now attached. Then the lights on the overriders would have illuminated it.

Those fin like ornaments on the leading edges of the front fender are kind of similar to the vertical bars people use to put on old Amby's fenders to indicate where the car body ends to help in manuvering it into tight spaces.

Dear Bulldogji,

I really appreciate your comments on the Dodge, and it’s not two pennies worth, it’s priceless, especially since you own a pristine 1954 Plymouth, which other than the exterior trim, has no difference between them.

Yes, the parking lights are original; the lens has just become yellow ish overtime.

The chrome embellishments on the front fenders came with the car (can be seen in the picture posted by Karl), I decided to retain them, even though they aren’t original, but as some would say a ‘Period Add-On’, and which I personally like. The rear bumpers do seem odd at first glance because the Dodge/Plymouth/Desoto’s came without the number plate bracket on it. But I guess it was an extra MOPAR accessory, because a search on the 1954 Dodge Royal will show a bracket installed on the Bumper. This accessory does have a light concealed as well; it has the two light you mentioned and also a third light on the bracket.

I am missing the chrome escutcheon, the ribbed chrome pattern; as mentioned earlier, hence I haven’t installed the door arm rest. The escutcheons will be installed next month. Yes again for the key surround, the bezel has been changed as of yesterday. The rear view mirror I wasn’t aware of, so if not correct for it's year ill be on the look out for one, you’ll need added security around your Plymouth.
