Yes DMehta, the 190 Db has not been maintained well!
But we can rarelly find such cars on the roads! So, its happier seeing a car, in a bad condition than not seeing at all!

Re: Udaipur's Current Kings Priced Possessions!

Very nice cars there indeed. Sadly some of them are not in such a good state but they are quite presentable. One thing is to be complimented to the owner and the restorers that all the parts that are meant to be chromed are chromed and are not just painted over somehow. And the cars that have been restored, they have been restored pretty well trying to keep the cars as original as possible. Nice to see so many Mercs as well. My friend Prithvi will be very thrilled i am sure.
What is the condition of these cars mechanically ? Are they used regularly ?

Great Pics, thank you for sharing.

Re: The Palace of Udaipur : Vintage & Classic Car Collection

In January 2011, I had visited the museum where I met Mr. Alexander Petermann and Mr. Heinz Zettl, Opel Specialists who were in Udaipur to advise on the restoration of the Opel Kadett at the Vintage and Classic Car Collection.

The Opel Kadett is currently on display at the museum.

Opel Kadett Kabriolett - RJF-445 selected for exhibition in Germany

Adam Opel AG is celebrating the company's 150th anniversary and 75 years of the Opel Kadett Car with a number of exhibitions to be held in Germany.

The Opel Kadett Kabriolett car, RJF-445, housed at the Vintage and Classic Car Museum has been selected by Mr. Wolfgang H. Scholz, Manager, Opel Classic Europe to participate in this comprehensive Exhibition of the Opel cars.

The exhibition is being held at Adam Opel AG Opel Classic, Global Heritage Communication, Russelsheim, Germany for a year. This former Opel plant has been converted into a museum.

Re: The Palace of Udaipur : Vintage & Classic Car Collection

The entry fee has been upped to 250 rupees now. I walked past this place a couple of times when I was backpacking in Udaipur a few weeks back. Unfortunately I spent just a day and a half in the white city and I couldn't make it here. I plan to return to Rajasthani cities for a longer duration when the winter makes the weather bearable and I'll be sure to post an updated travelogue of my time here.

For other travelers in Udaipur, you'd come across this place if you walk from the Railway Station to the lake (which is where most of you would stay) at roughly the 2/3rd mark. There are a few non-touristy restaurants, pubs and cafes near (I forget if it is before or after) here if you find the tourist area near the lake too pricey and artificial.

Re: The Palace of Udaipur : Vintage & Classic Car Collection

Sharing a couple of pics taken by a friend last month.

Can someone share history behind the weird body style on RJY 3 (which looks like a mini truck) and Udaipur 5 (which has a weird body work / fenders like a Jeep)

They are both RR 20/25.

RJY-3 was originally a Hooper Tourer (Chassis GNS11), converted to a cricket team carrier.

Udaipur-5 was a Thrupp & Maberly limousine (Chassis GKC10), converted to a "Jeep"
