More pictures- The American cars were grouped and so were the British ones. Two wheelers were also segregated and kept in a separate section.
The crowds were swelling today ever since the show began at 10.30 am.
We had organised a run yesterday covering a 38 km route traversing most main thoroughfares of the Orange City. About 22 cars and bikes participated. A traffic jam was faced near the Daga Hospital route in the heart of the city, where some time was lost.
CIVAA does not charge any entry fee from participants, nor any fee is charged from spectators.

Are all the cars in a workshop? Looks clean and tidy, the way it should be .

All the best for your drive/display. Why not plan a long distance drive , say to Bombay? Would give a chance to really enjoy your cars and show them in other cities.

Recently some Bombay cars went for a long drive to rajasthan and back, enjoyed themselves with families and friends so much that another drive, later this year, is already planned.

You are welcome Bulldogji.Our invitation to you stands and is always open - you can drive down to Nagpur at your convenience.
We will again organise such an event, come Republic Day 2015.
We will also drive down to Bombay in a group sometime next winter possibly.Our CIVAA members have taken your invite seriously.Thanks for the same.

We had a record number of two wheelers at the R-Day event on 25-26 Jan 2014.The earlier tally was for 40 plus but this later swelled to above 55.

Which car are you referring to?
The RR Silver Cloud, the Chrysler, the "A" or "B" Merc? I am a little puzzled.

before and after, the car seems butchered In neither picture does the car seem in its original form, so I guess the owner did what he liked best.

I think it looked horrible earlier and worse now. But that is just my opinion. And , whoever calls it a hot rod does not know what a hot rod is

CIVAA 170 km run today from Nagpur to Sewagram- Wardha and back !

Today we did a nearly 170 km run organised by Central India Vintage Automotive Association (CIVAA), Nagpur, from Nagpur to Mahatma Gandhi's abode in Sewagram then to Wardha and back to Nagpur.

The members started in their vintage and classic beauties - the oldest was a 1932 Rolls Royce Phantom II and every car and 2 wheeler, but the VW Beetle (fan belt broke and it had to be towed back home) successfuly did the morning to evening (dusk) 180 km run. Some had suffered heated engines (the two Chevrolets) but were tamed and made to roll.

Yours Truly was with family in his black 1955 Landmaster that performed so well that there are simply no words to commend. A solid fortress on wheels that is and so safe and secure (minus all the crumple zones and the airbags etc) it feels.The solid feel when one traverses potholes and bumps was really felt. It was the longest trip this car has undertaken during the last more than one decade.Constant cruising at 50 - 60 kmph on the four lane N.H. 7 (Hyderabad Road) and then a detour on a State Highway towards Wardha, halting at Sewagram for a darshan of Bapuji's abode that made our day. The drive was totally hassle free.

We saw almost the entire campus, where on either sides of the road are hutments with memoribilia of the Great Man. So serene is the ambiance here that one wishes he or she could spend hours. The entire territory is very well maintained. And why not? Many, very important decisions during the freedom struggle were made here. There is a canteen " Prakrutik Aahar Kendra" where only organic, simple food is served. Our lunch was served here. There is no ban on photography anywhere in the entire premises and that speaks volumes about the trust that does the upkeep.

The 1965 Ambassador of Mr Shahrukh Cassad also participated in the run, apart from the bevy of ol' beauties seen in the pictures. While clicking, could have missed some. The blue Land Rover is our Recovery Vehicle and saviour for most runs. We then reached Wardha, the dist hqs for Sewagram and spent time at the Sonawane Petrol filling station. Mr Sonawane is also fond of vintages and is a friend of one of our members Mr Dilip Kakde.

Everyone, right from the lil' kids to the elders enjoyed the day.

I would request one and all to visit Sewagram - the historic place where the Father of the Nation had spent his valuable time.
