Thanks folks for all the response. I was particularly thrilled to see Karl's post with a picture of the old Plymouth before its present restoration.
We are now gearing up for the 18th April run that will also see the birth of a Vintage and Classic Automobile Club in Central India.
Its already 43.6 degrees Celsius here at Nagpur.

Here is a picture of the 1932 Plymouth PB Convertible from the conceptcars website.
Central India Vintage Automotive Association (CIVAA) - News and Events-plymouth-1932-pb-conv.jpg
The one at Nagpur is a 1932 model, a four door version chopped off to resemble a convertible and not 1935-by 1935 the spoke wheels gave way to steel rims.

Anjan, the photo of the car as posted by Karl/Vintageman is a 1931 Plymouth as can be clearly seen in the difference grill, crank cover, not free standing lights as in 1932.

Cheers

KPS fully agree with you and Karl that it is a 1931. meant that it was one example from the early 1930's and not as late as 1935 as suggested by some friends.

Today 18th April 2010, we had the second Nagpur Vintage and Classic Automobile Run. The temperature has touched 45 degrees and hence it was decided to run a 20 km distance mainly covering the central eastern parts of the city.
About 25 cars and bikes had assembled at the venue M/s Shree Automobiles (near Ramdaspeth in West Nagpur) by 5.00 pm and at around 5.30 pm the run commenced moving towards central and east Nagpur. All participants covered the 20 km distance successfully, returning back to the venue between 7 to 7.30 pm and the smug feeling was visible on their faces after the completion.Despite the sweltering heat, all participants enjoyed the run upto the hilt.
The event management was done by Messrs Shahrukh Cassad and Ashish Limbanna, who also provided moral and mechanical support teams just in case! Mr Shirish Deodhar of M/s Shree Automobiles provided logistic support and sponsored the snacks.
The next meeting on 9th May 2010 evening, will be a brainstorming session, wherein discussions about modalities to form a Club and organise such events on a regular basis will be taken.
The pictures are here:
The green car is a Dodge Dart of the 1970's and the older one below is a Ford V8 of 1936 vintage.

Good to have Nagpur coming up with their own events, maybe they would even form a club. Wonder how you guys manage to get so many people together, the weather must be very very hot. Since this is not an organised event, there are no competition numbers to tie over the radiator and the cars do not overheat.

On a more serious note, new cars seem to be coming to Nagpur, and when the enthusiasm level goes up, many more will follow. But remember, running a club also requires a lot of administration and organisation, that translates to time.
Keep it up.

Cheers harit

Thanks harit. The mercury has touched 45 degrees Celsius here. Yes the initial enthusiasm is great amongst participants.Sure needs a professional approach to run the club successfully.

So as scheduled on 8th May 2010 CIVAA (Central India Vintage Automobile Association) came into being. The attendance was quite good and office bearers were elected. The members enrolled initially will be proudly proclaimed as "founder members" (incl. Yours Truly). It will be meets now and during the monsoon. Thereafter runs will be organised after the weather becomes Vintage friendly and conducive.
