Tomorrow CIVAA will hold a press conference at 5.00 pm at Shriram Sabhagrah, Ramnagar, Nagpur to honour its founder member Shri Iqbal Ahmed for his miniature working model of the first ever Carl Benz car of 1886 that was first driven on 29/01/1886- 125 years ago.This miniature model is not like just another miniature replica.It has the complete engine that works and drives the car as it would have been 125 years ago.And this was made based on pictures available from many sources. The Mercedes Benz officials at Germany are aware of this rendition as they have been contacted. Mr Iqbal Ahmed has also made steam engine miniatures and so also of other mechanical species. Yesterday CIVAA celebrated the WORLD AUTOMOBILE DAY (125th anniversary of the patenting of the world's first car by Carl Benz on 29/01/1886) at the Sreeram Sabhagruh, Ram Nagar, Nagpur.CIVAA felicitated Mr Iqbal Ahmed the connoisseur and CIVAA founder member, who unveiled his miniature working model of the first motor car during the grand function.
It has taken him an year to make this car and he has done it with images that he collected through his own sources. Mr Iqbal Ahmed has also earlier won his place in the Guinness Book of World Records for developing the smallest prototype of a working model of the steam engine.

Nice cars and nice scale models. I like the model train, seems like its functional. Is it electric powered or steam powered.

Thanks Manish.The rail engine is an exact replica of the steam engine and needs coal to run.It is functional and has been run on specially made rail tracks. Remember the 16th Jan 2011 run organised by CIVAA to founder member Mr Sunil John's farm.My camera was under repairs(it still is) and I had to click still images on my handycam that were not of quite a good quality. These better quality are images provided by CIVAA members.
The starting point is shown to begin with, next the beauties on the move and then the members and their families resting. The President, CIVAA can be spotted resting on the Presidential charpoy /cot. The picturesque farm pictures of turkey and duck/swan joint families can also be seen.
The return journey is shown in two pictures. As is the rule,everyone sings "country roads take me home, to the place I belong" during return journeys so clicks on the camera are few, if any.

We are organising a Heritage Motor Display on 13th (Sunday) February 2011 at a venue just behind Ramgiri (the CM's residence at Nagpur), Civil Lines.This coincides with the Rotary Club organised Walkathon the same morning. All interested are invited to have a look at the cars on display.Details will follow soon.

The CIVAA event is now postponed to Sunday 20/02/2011.
There was a festival in a nearby worship place on 13th Feb and hence this event has now been fixed for 20/02/2011 from 0630 hrs onwards-thats when the Rotary Walkathon commences!
The venue is the C.P. Club lawns, Civil Lines just adjacent to the CM's bungalow (RAMGIRI).

The CIVAA cars for display have reached the venue. The display will be from 6.30 am till 9.30 am tomorrow at the C.P. Club lawns beside "Ramgiri", the Maharashtra CM's official residence.
The event is the Walkathon being organised by the Rotary Club. The media partner is Times of India.
Teambhpians and automobile enthusiasts of Nagpur are most welcome.Some cars have never been seen in public displays at Nagpur.

Today's Rotary Club organised Walkathon at Nagpur was a grand success.Hundreds of participants walked through the earmarked routes in the city. The first batch started at 6.30 am. The photographs show the participants walking their way and in some odd scenarios, especially from the Indian context we see cars stopping by to give way to the pedestrians. A RARE SIGHT IN INDIA AND AT NAGPUR. In the developed countries I have visited, I had found pedestrians being given the priority and the right of way by most motorists who slow down compulsorily at zebra crossings.In Germany I had found a lever (with a handicapped sign) installed in the traffic light assembly, wherein the lever is activated by any handicapped pedestrian wanting to cross the road anytime. This stops the traffic to give way to the handicapped pedestrian. Back to CIVAA and today's event. The DKW made its appearance today so also a new Wolseley 16/60 bought by a CIVAA member. Till last night CIVAA members were in the process of parking their entries. Even today starting at dawn, some of us brought in our beauties to the venue. Will upload pictures soon.
