More of them. The pictures really talk. The 1922 Harley Davidson with a side car owned by Rajesh Gupta runs 7-8 kmpl of petrol. His complaint is that the engine overheats a lot. Surprisingly, the HD is a part of their family heirloom. It was bought brand new by Rajesh Gupta's great grandfather and remains with the family till this day.The bike engine conked off midway and the owner had to push it for a distance. At the fag end of the rally the bike reached the proper venue but again refused to start. Two Honda Activas were pressed into service. One was driven by his son.The Activa riders on the left and right, just pushed the bike from the rear, while riding with their right and left foot respectively, to evenly provide torque for the grotesque Harley to move on at neutral. And it moved homeward @ 20-30 kmph. And Rajesh Gupta's Chevrolet bus with its 6 cyl original petrol engine also entered the run.

Anjan's Landy looks very original. Lots of army disposal jeeps seem to survive in Nagpur, but they look heavily modified. The Triumph is a regular appearance at all classic events in Nagpur. Could not see Mukherjee's '48 Jaguar 1.5 liter in the pics, did he give it a miss? Also Kale's Adler was missing. Also could not find any of the Fords from in and around Nagpur. I guess as this was the first big event by CIVAA, the participation will improve in later events.

But kudos to CIVAA to have organized this event. It motivates the owners of these beauties to keep their cars and bikes in running condition and keep on improving.
newcoolgadgetsThe Chevrolet truck belongs to L.N. Gupta Transport, a very old company that plied buses here.
Thanks for liking my Landmaster!
There were 4 WWII Ford and Willys jeeps and these are fairly original and well maintained. The 1972 Kaiser jeep (number AAY......) was modded on the hot rod pattern with metallic paint, alloys and Scorpio tail lights with the original petrol engine. This jeep was a part of the United Nations fleet.
True Dr Mukherjee and his Jaguar were absent.
The Kale's have sold many of their cars including the 1932 Chevrolet,1947 Austin 14, but do not know whether the 1937 Adler is still with them.
Thanks and yes CIVAA will improve upon it with future events.

The CIVAA run to the Jungle Resort at Totladoh, Pench today beagn with the exotics assembling at M/s Limbanna Garage, Mount Road since 8.00 am. The cars and two wheelers started their onward journey at 9.00 am.The pictures tell it all.The members are seen having a relaxed Sunday morning tete-a-tete in a few pictures.
For such events there needs to be a saviour like Hanumanji was with his army of the Vanar Sena that went to Lanka.
The saviour here is the Mitsubishi Pajero of Ashish Limbanna. Incidentally , Ashish was at the wheel of his Chevrolet Chevelle.More to follow!

Re: Central India Vintage Automotive Association (CIVAA) - News and Events

Today's CIVAA run was very enjoyable. Just back at around 5 pm from the nearly 90 km run.The cars and bikes started rolling in at M/s Shree Automobiles and by 10.00 am we started the onward journey to the farmhouse of founder member Mr Sunil John. There were 35 of us in about five jeeps, two cars and some bikes and two scooters.
The 36 km stretch was on the state highway leading to Katol from Nagpur. Beyond Kalmeshwar town, we took a left turn and the drive was in rural roads for about 7 kms stretch.Of this about 3 to 4 kms was on cart tracks with lots of ups and downs suitable only for jeeps. But all the scooters, bikes and cars too completed the stretch with some good driving and manoeuvring.
I was on my Landmaster and had never driven it on such rough, rural stretches. The car performed the run with ease and I took utmost care to manoeuvre it through.
All the four and two wheelers were following one another. there was no overtaking and hence all of us reached the farm almost at the same time.
We all were there at about 12.15 pm.
THE TRYST WITH MOTHER NATURE
We had our walk through the nature and greenery. There is a big lake adjacent to the farm which had many birds around.
The farm was well maintained with orange orchards, other flowers fruits and also some exotic turkey breeds, roosters, ducks and so on.
Then we had the game of housie which the kids enjoyed. Two of us had kites with manja and the kites went high up in the sky. After a friendly match one kite was gone!
The lunch was quite sumptuous and thereafter we sat discussing about cars and cars because cars bind us all in CIVAA.
Thanks a lot from CIVAA to Mr Sunil John for hosting us and letting all of us have a gala time and a lovely day out.

The Dodge Kingsway doesn't look very well looked after. Is it for sale by any chance?
