Lord and Lady Goschen in a Rolls Royce loaned by the Maharaja of Mysore as dozens of onlookers watch on, the picture should be from 1924-1931

Hi Karithikeya l,
That was a great picture. If I am not mistaken that picture was taken in front of Stephen's church in Ooty. The roof of that church was supposed to have been brought from Tipu's palace in Srirangapatnam,it was supposed to have been brought by elephants.

It is indeed St. Stephen's church ( as posted by travancore)

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

1914 Silver Ghost, Chassis 57YB - a "Special Limousine" by Thrupp & Maberly was seen in video taken in the 1950's. Probably sporting its original colours

Came across a picture taken in 1997 of the Ex-Mysore Daimler DE27, now in long term ownership at Coimbatore.

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

Here is an very interesting article from 1955 shared by Travancore to me

23rd October 1955, the article describes the auction of some Mysore cars. Rolls Royces, Daimlers and Delayahe
"Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore-image1-8.jpeg

This car was not sold, as the bid was very low at Rs. 2600!

Interestingly, the article touches upon the Daimler DB18. This was also not sold on account of the low bid of RS. 6350! Probability that this is my car is high, consider it is the only recorded DB18 from the Mysore stables! K N Srinivasan bought this car in 1957.

The Delahaye Sports had a reserve price Rs. 75000!

Here is another picture of HH Jayachamaraja Wodeyar performing puja to a Rolls during Dasara.

Wow. How much would that be in today's money?

Why is it being pushed though?

During the puja, all the cars where never driven. They were pushed past the Maharaja after prayers, probably as mark of respect.

Please see Post 32, even in 1933 this was the recorded convention.

Thanks
