Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar at Dussera Celebrations, offering prayers to the cars. These are pictures taken from an old video. Sorry about the quality of the pictures.

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

Nice pics KPS! Did the cars break down (or rather failed to proceed in RR terms). Can see that most of the cars are being pushed. Or was that the tradition?

It was tradition. Since Pooja was being done, they would not be driven. The Maharaja would be in the pavilion and chariots, wagons, horses, cars etc paraded before it.

Wow! And looks like the magnificent car was photographed at the equally magnificent Mysore Palace Garages. Now sadly demolished ?

“Doing a Mysore”

I wonder what extra-terrestrial power would entice someone to “Do a Mysore” almost twice over in two years. Or perhaps, it was the impending end to a princely lifestyle, brought on by a new-fangled democracy. Either way, war weary Britain was only too happy to oblige, with all the foreign exchange it brought.

Strange for a family that had not shopped at Derby or Crewe, in over twenty years (Phantom I 110YC). And had never, ever, set foot at a nearby Bentley Store before.

All this in addition to a Delahaye by Figoni et Falaschi (later Sir Elton John), three or four Daimlers and one of the sixteen Invicta Black Princes ever made. I dare not even mention all the American heavy metal in this august company. The lone Morris Minor must have looked on in amazement.

Anyways, just wanted to put all thirteen Mysores together. I was getting confused. "E&OE"

Thanks for this, this new perspective is indeed interesting.

What I find amazing is that 12 of the 13 survive to this day! Any idea what became of WYA7?

And almost all of then in pretty good nick. WYA7 remains an enigma. No one seems to know anything.

A car to the same design as WYA7 from Rob Geelen posted above. Hoping this would trigger someone's memory.

Re: "Doing a Mysore" again - Cars of Maharaja of Mysore

Here is a surprise for me.

Pratap Jayaram shared a picture of a Ex-Mysore Logonda, the family had in their ownership. MYM 2664 is a Mysore registration.

Wonder where this car is now?
