And look what turns up in Delhi, riding on the back of a flatbed truck 2 days ago...

Are your sure it is a 1946 Rover beacause the kerala rto website says it is a 1950 model car and manufacturer is Vaneslal( Vauxhall ?)

Ha, so another car leaves Calcutta. Just as well, this poor Rover along with its younger black cousin used to be parked on the streets I think due to lack of space inside the owner's home compound. Lying outside, it gradually deteriorated from what seemed like good original to fair condition, especially the wood inside.

I once expressed a desire to buy it but thought the asking price was a bit much. Of course, this is assuming the car is actually the cyclops Rover which was in Calcutta and wore a similar colour.

Kartikeya, the P4s were produced from 1949, and so this has to be 1949 or later. Of the P4s, the Cyclops were the first ones (up to 1950/51, I think).

Now that you have pointed out, it does look like a chop job, I have posted the same on the Rover sports register forum and have asked them for an opinion too.

Hi Kartik,

It is not a P3 as it has leaf springs and a beam axle, so it is a P2. To be sure we would need the chassis number that is normally stamped into the chassis near the steering box or on the brass plate on the bulkhead. My guess is that it started as a 10hp Saloon that has been "chopped".
Regards

Mike
