Pavan why is it that the under body area not prepared and finished before doing up the exteriors? Wont it be more effective and give a better finish? You can even apply the a thin layer of exterior for the underbody along with the exteriors to give it a seamless looks. Referring to fenders here.

Prithvi ,please go through my post I had never said that FICHTEL(not Fitchel as you have written)and SACHS exists ,I said that they were OE suppliers and NOS(NEW OLD STOCK) items are still available
Boge was also an OE supplier from W.Germany.Sachs may have merged with Boge now

Magnetti Marelli has some controlling stake in COFAP
I have copied a link on that reply, Its come down from Italy, and has Magnetti Marelli marking, Thats sufficient

Magnetti Marelli has liscenced CoFap to manufacture OE spares for Italian car manufacturers, so obviously when you order something for an Italian Car, Italian suppliers send the matching spares, and Prithvi, Dont you think this is right?

Jaggu, the Underbody is 100% ready, The only thing pending is the inner part of Fenders, that will be done by weekend, and just before the first Base coat.

See Pics attached

Yes Pavan,

That should be alright. Just like the Bosch blue coils such as the ones I have ordered or Inderpalji's are no longer made in Germany, but made under license in Brazil and Mexico. Similarly, piston rings for classic Mercs are available new from a number of OEM suppliers, such as ATE, Goetze and Meyle. Gaskets were originally supplied by MB themselves, but the replacements and current versions are made under license by El Ring. So this is quite common and your stuff should be alright as well.

BOSCH blue coils are still made in SPAIN also.
The name of piston ring manufacturer is MAHLE and not MEYLE as you have written .MAHLE and Kolbenschmidt are GERMAN manufacturers of PISTONS and Rings.I think the name of the latter company is now NURAL KOLBEN

Yes you are correct. It is Mahle for the pistons. When I had ny cars engine overhauled, I used Mahle piston and rings, all new. The reason I wrote Meyle was because recently I got some parts from Meyle and got confused between the 2.

re: Pilots & his 1950 Mouse Restoration - Fiat Topolino Delivered

Today nothing much happened, but the Bonnet finally got ready.

The engine room is being scraped, we will be applying a little Bondo, smoothen the uneven surface in the engine room and spray the surfacer.

Once this is done, the front fenders, grille, bumper and bonnet will be fitted to check the correctness, later which we proceed to work on the rear of the car.

Will post some more pics by tomorrow.

The pace on the work is slow, but its steady and that is good in this case.

All the best for the engine job, i know your GURU will get that engine running. He has magical hands, i experienced his work on my S1.

Thank you Makam

The painter seems to have got what i've said about this Inside Out paint, but has not taken it too seriously. The engine room is ready and good, but not the way i want it, making him re-do the same all over again, 2 more days gone for a toss

My mechanic calls and says the suspension mounts are ready, i will be picking it up tomorrow morning.

Thank you Prithvi

I still need it to be the way it was at the assembly line

Will post updates in the next 24 hours.

Got the suspension mounting from my mechanic today, I am getting it fitted.

After this, the only thing pending on the chassis would be to complete laying of new brake pipes.
