re: Pilots & his 1950 Mouse Restoration - Fiat Topolino Delivered

Good to see the main problems associated to the Mouse, (as mentioned to professionals in the thread) being rectified. Hoping to see her on our Bangalore roads soon.

I too am hoping to run it on the roads soon.

Ordered for the last bit of very essential spares, the Bill is EXORBITANTANTLY TOO HIGH.

Ordered spares from Italy, a very helpful Gentleman and his wife Ezio Casagrande and Topolino Casagrande have painstakingly stored Topolino spares since ages and have learnt ENGLISH too to cater to the International clients. They have been very helpful and i really appreciate their effort.

Attached is the PDF .

Oh yeah i remember Ezio, fantastic collection of NOS Fiat parts, prices are high though. But with Fiat parts in short supply what options do you have. I wish Fiat supported its classics a little more like mercedes. Good progress. What are you doing with the headlights? Do you have the original Carello units?

I wish Fiat was as proactive as the VW's and Merc's.

With a rare car, you really have no options than to buy them at that prices

Headlights came in the last lot, looks a bit modern but got them finally, it comes with the Chrome outer ring.

re: Pilots & his 1950 Mouse Restoration - Fiat Topolino Delivered

Things cant get better than this.

The mechanic suddenly calls me yesterday Afternoon, skip office early and i got to see this

Notice the ORIGINAL TORINO Made in ITALY Fuel pump, we had to change the diaphram from the Maruti Omni which surprisingly suited.

Also the ORIGINAL 1950 FIAT 500C DYNAMO

All set to fire the engine one more time... We are doing this for the second time and with a different mechanic.

While the earlier mechanic did lot of JUGAAD and made me spend money without a purpose. This guy is my Regular mechanic who's extremely smart enough and has a knack of setting things right. He will assemble each and every component over the next 4 days and is all set to fire the Engine by coming Wednesday

Well Fingers crossed.

Pavan.

There should be a plastic heat insulator beween the fuel pump and the block to stop the pump heating up.

You should look into this and fit it or you will have fuel pump overheating problems.

It usually is like a gasket but is around half mm thick

Also look at correctly aligning the front grille bars ....they will look shabby afte rpaint if the gaps are uneven

Also from the look of it, the engine needs a good clean inside out. There is cooling system cleaner available, I have bought for my car too. Please use that as per instructions, it will cleanse the system of any deposits.

The stuff is available with Wurth (near agara lake koromangla).

Till the engine fires and the Car runs, i am not going to do ANY Cosmetic make-up on the engine....

Yes Manish, point taken, the engine will be cleaned inside out very soon. Also, i am not too happy with Wuerth Products (Had issues during my Bus restoration) so i will go on with 3M products right now...

BTW.. The exhaust on the car was totally screwed up with Multiple welds, twin exhaust pipes and what not... Took time out today and got new pipes fabricated, will take a call on muffler once i test it tomorrow.
