One thing about vintage cars that always caught my eyes was the Mascot. Over the years many company's changed them on their various models. So since i found it interesting i thought i would start a thread and others could contribute furthur. All these pics are from Cars in india. So i think we should stick to cars from india please.

So here are a few of those lovely Mascots

Lovely thread ! I personally find the Jaguar mascot the most appealing..

Btw, what model is the Ford with the 'Hound' mascot ? Looks sleek and beautifully crafted - almost like a modern version of a vintage theme.

Lalique is a common mascot? You may have seen a few examples, but common? No way. A common mascot is the Rolls's Lady, Spirit of Ecstasy. (Spell checked)
Basically, there were two types of mascots, the original supplied by the company like Bentley wings, Packard lady holding the wheel etc. And then there were accessories, made by companies/artists like Lalique which gave a personal customised touch. And then there are home made creations like the brass lady or that aeroplane, frankly very kitchy.
One thing to remember in these days is that these mascots must always be removed and kept safe.
Another very common item seen in place of the mascots is the temperature gauge, the calorimeter.

Cheers harit

Sir ,

Common in the sense seen on quite a few cars in delhi. Thank for that info on the mascots. If you could upload some pics from your collection of cars or photographs it would be great.

The aeroplane on the AC is something that i would say is difficult to commont on since that car itself is very rare. But the question is how original is it ?

The Mascot is one thing that is always stolen from the car specially the ones which are on the radiator cap and not screwed on the bonnet. Once these are lost it is really difficult to get a replacement for it.

COMMON!!?? a genuine Lalique Victoire in mint condition with its original mount is worth more than many of the cars that you see at vintage car rallies in India!
of course, "replicas" abound and can be had for under a hundred dollars.
