Re: Vintage Related Memorabilia

I would like to show a lovely cutlery item made by "Taylor Cutlery". It is a knife case of the Beetle and opens up from the side of the hood into a sharp stainless steel knife. This item is made in Japan. The case is made up of brass and intend to "brasso" it in a day or two as it has been long been in storage.

Re: Vintage Related Memorabilia

Recently during one of my trips to USA, i was lucky to pick up a very interesting item a Super Bug Canister at one of the estate sales.
This one was a 100 Months old Beam, with the name of "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky".
Goes without saying that it did not have any whisky in it except a smell of it. Maybe the auction house keeper drank all of it
The bug is quite heavy and is made in a combination of metal and ceramic.
The custom officer at the airport tried everything possible to flick it from me but i am not the one to give up
Find few picture of the same attached below.

Re: Vintage Related Memorabilia

I was presented with this book.
It was printed in Hyderabad.
The adder of this being specially for ladies was a bit unfair, they always called a mechanic or the husband to bail them out. Today one would not dare to print this on the cover. And anyway, today one can't do much on a car on his own anyway.

Hmmm...interesting book, pretty cover too - I mean look at that lovely blue Fiat Delite! Does the book also have a chapter on better, non-scary driving techniques and practices?!

Yes, modern cars don't have much scope for home-repairs, while they're also relatively maintenance-free (in the sense of requiring regular intervention). However, it also surprises me when I still spot a stranded motorist (of either gender!) waiting for a mechanic/passer-by to change the flat tyre. Sometimes even tubeless tyres finally run out of breath after the puncturing object is allowed to stay in residence for a while! I'm waiting to someday spot a BMW with a flat run-flats that has been run flat for a 100plus kms by someone too busy to remember, or notice the warning, and also the fact that there's no stepney in the boot!!

Unfortunately not.

The following pages were copied from a booklet issued by Dunlop in......1951
That time they had tubeless tyres already.
Dunlop had a number of interesting publications, sad that they don't exist anymore in the form they did. And there is humour to be found too.

Attached is a Baroda, Western India & Gujarat states Agency Gazette, dated Thursday, 4th january, 1945. This ordinance pertains to scheduled sale price of used motor cars of certain English and American makes. This notification is of the War Transport Department, Defence Ministry, Government of India, dated 18th December, 1944! The information is very useful and interesting !

A recent joke on the net, item for sale:

"Antique Hood Ornament India God Shiva The Cosmic Dancer"

Very imaginative, but gave me an idea.

Pray tell, good Sir, what might that idea be?

The Destroyer on the dash of a DeSoto?

Or perhaps Rudra on the radiator of a Rolls?

Re: Vintage Related Memorabilia

Recently i bought a "Lady Bug" Radio for my Super Beetle and plan to tape it on its dash board. Found the Radio particularly amusing. It is in a shape of a "Bug" and is Orange and Black in colour. Works with a 9V battery and is Made in Hong Kong. The front 2 knobs (to be read as eyes) are for on/off & volume and other button is for tuning. The red whiskers are the antennas. Now the most interesting part is when you increase the volume the wings expand and when you decrease they contract. Found that very innovative indeed. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Interesting, and thanks! I have Lady Bug floor mats in my Beetle, bought as accessory from the showroom, in 1972!
