Deccan Heritage Automobile Association vintage/classic show, Hyd. 15th August 2010

Note: As no thread on this topic has been started as yet, I decided to start a new one. If another has been simultaneously started, I request mods to merge the threads.

Here are the pics. I took of the Deccan Heritage I-day show today.

Starting with the cars.....quite a few 'new' ones turned up this time, notably this superb '52 Chevy Styleline DeLuxe.

A '52(?) Stude Commander, also restored, although lacking a few original bits and finish quality. IIRC, suren had posted pics. of this same car (the regn. seems familiar) seen in a cellar parking lot some time ago. It was in a much darker shade of blue then.

Star of the show I'm sure was the TVS family's 1933 Chevy Master Phaeton superbly restored by our own DKG!!

Every bit of the car showed quality and dedication in the restoration, even the underside! You wouldnt believe, for a moment, that this car was restored in India!

PS: More on said car's detailed restoration in this thread:

Thanks ravi! Well I didnt quite touch her, since I didnt feel appropriate to do so with such a 'Master'piece done by the 'Master' himself!

Continuing with the pics....some of the cars here are already familiar so not captioning them.

This is the engine bay of the '52 chevy.

This Morris 8 seemed to be a first-timer. A well-maintained example. Come to think of it, this was the first time I found such a car attractive, maybe because of the 'army' green (which coincidentally matched that of my LD! )

The quality of restoration has really moved many notches up. Guess with access to parts and the current valuations, owners are willing to spend more money on the cars. The 52 Chevy looks wonderful

What car is the white one after the jeeps? Looks an early 20's car? What is its history?

Is APX 346 a Triumph?

The heavily accessorised white car is indeed a 1921 (?) Wolseley. The rear end has a strange rumble seat configuration, but overall an attractive car.

APX 346 indeed looks like a Triumph 1800 roadster.

The Wolsley is not nicely restored but totally glorified ....yoo much clutter on it !

This guy owns one RR that I am aware of, has some issues with teh engine hense its never been out in public.

He does own some other rather special cars like a Caddy and teh Nizam's old Super Snipe Limo.

He also had a seventies two door Lincoln T Top coupe which was really nice.

The Wolseley is of year 1915 infact and it is a Golf cart and only one of its kind in India. All the accessories are infact original as the owner is a person who doesnt leave any detail and restores immaculately.
His restoration of RRs has been halted due to other reasons but not due to Engine problems. They will be on display some time later at the DHAA Rallys.
DHAA has planned some spectacular events in September and November.

Hey Hillram, do you have any more pictures of the Wolseley? When there is a unique car you should post the complete set of pictures of the same as it will enable us to absorb the car in its full glory.

Stanher pictures

Another wonderful thing in Hyderabad are that most of the cars are from there itself. In Bangalore the better cars have come from outside the state. Unfortunately very few of Mysore Maharaja's cars remain in Bangalore.

Looking forward to the DHAA meets in Sept and hopefully I will make it.

Cheers

Ram.

Sorry to contradict you but none of that glitter on the Wolsley is even close to original. It was not restored by the owner in Hyderbad but he actually bought it in this condition.

The only thing correct about it is that it is a Golfers Coupe, even the date of manifacture stared as 1915 is disputed.

Do tell more about the RR, does he have two of them now. The first one had a major problem with missing parts in th engine, I have seen that car and the only way to get it running was to import parts.

Is a Golf Coupe where there is a cavity to hold the golf bag and clubs? This cavity is just behind the seat and the golf set is place horizontal to the ground. I remember seeing this in one of Jay Leno' s cars.

Cheers
