Hi,

Got this picture (framed) in my office yesterday. Doesn't have any signatures / inscriptions on the main picture. While I know where this image is (Marine Drive, Mumbai), I'd like to know if anyone can share more details about it.

Seems to be a good collection of Bombay's finest back in the days. Ahhh.. Happy days

These pictures, and there are more, have been going around the net as forwards since maybe 2 years.
Ballard Pier was indeed a station, and later named Mole station.

There is an old ice cream parlor in Jayanagar. I had been there long time back. It had a good collection of old Bangalore pictures on its walls. Can't recall the name and location of that shop though :(

That is sad so under the guise of modernizing we go from "quaint" to "chaos" RIP beautiful buildings.

I really think, the metro could have gone underground from MG road, halsuru, cmh road etc.

Not only have they ruined the beauty of MG road but also made it congested. Think about it , would the delhi metro ever take an overhead line at CP ? no. and one can draw some parallels to mg road and cp.

Also, when the vidhan soudha is spared of this modernity why not MG Road ?

PS: on the same lines, me glad that chennai metro has decided the underground route on mount rd.

Suhaas tanks for sharing the amazing pictures of MG road. Namma Bengaluru. Infact most of the roads and places in Bangalore are loosing their charm due to Mordenization.

They should leave the greenry intact, which once upona time was highlight of Bangalore.

1913 TVS Bus service shed at Madurai. This is the current garage of TVS & sons Ashok leyand Authorized service center workshop with the same roofing still present.



The truck shown below is Premier FARGO, truck that was built in India in from 50's till 80's by Premier Automobiles Limited. The truck in this image is a TVS Southern Roadways parcel service lorry that plies between Bangalore and Madurai. And the Highway is no doubt National Highways 7 and the photograph seems to be taken somewhere between Dindigul – Madurai stretch as is evident from the Palm trees and dense vegetation.

The color of the Truck is always Aluminum (Nowadays the cowl painted Yellow due to state regulations) and the Text/Letters are always dark green (a.k.a. Bus Green).
The image is mirrored and it reads MADURAI – BANGALORE and then Public Carrier over the windshield. The registration is MDU 4853 (Madras State now Tamil Nadu) done around early – mid 60’s.

This company TVS still operates a large fleet of Parcel service and coincidentally they were also the dealers for Premier Automobile’s vehicles till date.
