@suhaas, thanks for bringing back the old bengaluru feeling. The traffic was well organized back then and the pollution was non existent.
I have a few pictures of koramangala in the 80's (will try and post them), trust me it was heaven then.
Thank you guys!
I've got a few more for you.
Here is Avenue Road, probably a hundred years ago:
And this is JC Road sometime in the early '60s:
Back in the day, you needed a licence to ride a bicycle! :D
A sketch/painting of South Parade MG Road, probably a hundred years ago:
A picture of Town Hall junction taken in the '60s by a reporter from The Times Of India:
And here are some pre-Metro-massacre pictures of Bangalore..
The Vidhan Soudha:
And MG Road:
And one picture of the beautiful RV Road:

Th e second one is a traffic scene from Dharamtala

This one,the last is from 1968 and clicked at Shyambazar

Thiruvalla, Kerala in the 80's. Got this pic from FB.

Firestone subsequently became Modistone in India. In 1988 Bridgestone purchased Firestone Tire and Rubber Co.
The following link will take one on its history.

The pics of old Bangalore look fantastic. I remember the old Mekhri Circle when it was actually a circle. My dad had an old green colour Fiat car ( not Padmini but it had the Fiat logo). We would park the car by the kerb side of the circle and we would indulge in road side food! Cotton candy was my favorite! Times were simple back then! I need to go through some old family albums and am sure I will find old pics of the former Garden City!
In the mean time, I googled for old pics of Belgaum (my hometown) and would like to share them here:-
1) Church Street - home of the famous Swamy Bakery. Amazing mawa cakes (to date!) and mouth watering mutton puffs!
2) Central Bus Stand
3) Bogarvis (formerly called Sambhaji Chowk)
Old is Gold!

I might have a more recent picture of the Vidhana Soudha taken from that same angle. Will see if I can find it.

There is an old ice cream parlor in Jayanagar. I had been there long time back. It had a good collection of old Bangalore pictures on its walls. Can't recall the name and location of that shop though :( |
Was the ice cream parlour located near Ragigudda temple? if yes, then it is Corner House. Almost all Corner House outlets in Bangalore have these pictures from the Bangalore of yesteryears. It feels very nice to see how the city looked back then.

A print dated 1871. The best scan i could manage.
Nice pictures,
(4) Marine Drive - Cochin (That's Hotel Sealord).

Yes, I have that doubt. But the bus is similar to the ones here. Thanks for pointing it out.
^^^ LIC building has letters LIC on the side facing camera. I enlarged this picture and these letters are visible as a shade. So perhaps true.
