Re: Cartier "Travel with Style" Concourse d' Elegance 2011

The two lancia's looked really nice. The Di-Lambda from Calcutta won a prize (Ladies Selection) which is the ladies had to choose a car which they liked the most and would like to drive around.

The Convertible Series 62 Cadillac, is very well detailed indeed. I managed to get a quick pic of the engine bay.

The Fiat 1100 was one of the best fiat's i have ever come across. I also found the Daimler and the Triumph to be very nice.

Re: Cartier "Travel with Style" Concourse d' Elegance 2011

Two E types were there in the show today, one was a 12 cylinder and the other was 6 cylinder. If i was to choose between the two, the 12 cylinder one looks much better kept and done up than the 6 cylinder car.
The Jaguar SS 1 was also another very immaculate car that was there at the show. The finish of the car was something to learn from.

Re: Cartier "Travel with Style" Concourse d' Elegance 2011

The organizers made a small mistake, A Studebaker Commander that was present had a card saying Studebaker Champion. The Armstrong Siddeley is the exact same model owned by Mr. Sallo Chaudhary in Calcutta which i had seen last year at his premises. That car belonged to Mr.Siddhartha Shankar Ray (ex Chief Minister Of West Bengal). I have covered almost all the cars except one car which is the Boat Tail Rolls Royce.

How we miss this Stude in Bangalore. It is a Commander because it has a 8 cyl. engine.

Thanks Indro for the pictures but I wish you had batched them and given more details like the coverage on the 1st Cartier event.

I am sure DKG would have been there. I am waiting for his detail post.

Cheers

Re: Cartier "Travel with Style" Concourse d' Elegance 2011

The Nizam's Ghost has had a huge make over and has been debated earlier. The debate between the back to original body and Nizam's Hyderabad modifications will never end, I guess. The car in its new original shape looks great but still does not reflects the Nizam's eccentricity

The Stutz looks really great. The car really looks a stunner. Just cannot imagine how wonderful it looks.

Re: Cartier "Travel with Style" Concourse d' Elegance 2011

I think the rims on it at present are still not the correct ones.

The upholstry also a bit modern to the eye.

The Nizam was "HEH" not "HH" as mentioned on the information card with the car.

I would love to see pictures of the engine bay too

The Nizam was on the TOP of the hierarchy, the Alpha amongst royalty

Wasif,
I think the wheels are original, as in the attached photograph.

As I too noticed, for this goof up the organizers would have paid a heavy, heavy price had they made the demotion (HH) error, prior to 1947.

The Nizam of Hyderabad was the only ruler in post independence India who had been conferred with the title HIS EXALTED HIGHNESS (HEH).

I don't know but the size of the rims is not correct for the age of the car.

I was sure I have been told or read someplace the at the original rims were replaced by smaller ones as tie correct size tires were not available.

I am surprised at the error in the title myself

Re: Cartier "Travel with Style" Concourse d' Elegance 2011

Awesome! 'wish I could've gone for this show!

Good to see the Nizam's rolls again. But am particularly delighted to find a post-war STANDARD entered in an event like this- the phase 3 Vanguard!
It looks superbly maintained, but desperately needs new tail-lamp covers. Indro, maybe you could try and contact the owner to have her join the standard motor club!

Also great to see the Fiat millecento...if I'm not wrong, that belongs to Farhan Kidwai, also a tbhpian.

Good to know that cars like these, which were looked down upon by most vintage/classic 'connoisseurs' in our country not more than a decade ago, are now being given equal privileges, especially in such high-end events! Of course, a cartier show is an international event so such cars are also displayed in shows abroad.
