I researched this before buying Aspire. The reason (as per Ford) is use of 44% Boron Steel in new gen Aspire/Figo that is up to 4 times stronger than normal steel and is extensively used in aircrafts. This can be compared to other Ford cars (including Ecosport) that have around 22-23% Boron Steel. Ford was able to significantly reduce the metal weight while maintaining strength and hence the results - Good Mileage and power without compromising on Safety despite thinner sheet. I did a good study of accidents before buying Ford Aspire and found that Aspire occupants were safe during accidents. All this shows excellent use of technology by Ford.

I can easily say Yes to Aspire Sports - highly practical and fun to drive car.

Nice to know that. Can you share the link that highlights what you are claiming?

I just tried googling again.

Here are a few links :

https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/www.m...f-a-revolution

https://www.india.ford.com/boron-steel/

https://www.india.ford.com/suvs/ecos...atures/safety/ - Just see how they mention High strength steel cage for Aspire and 2015 Figo whereas for EcoSport mention Boron steel inclusion in doors etc.

http://www.india.ford.com/servlet/Co...=1249149762918 - Link mentioning High strength steel cage for Aspire.

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/fo...g-21-a-12.html - Someone else reiterating what I said here.

Other way is to simply mail Ford India and ask!!

The only official links there are the Ford India ones.

Ford India uses red colour in the frame to highlight the usage of Boron Steel and you can see the same used for the Global Fiesta chassis, Ecosport etc.

But for Figo and Aspire Twins - there is only the mention of high strength steel, and that too on certain parts of the frame.

I agree. This is my bad that I equated high strength steel to Boron steel!!

However links like these do help to take a decision -

https://www.thrustzone.com/ford-aspi...board-survive/

This was a car accident in which car got crushed between two trucks. The rear one was not able to stop and yet all 5 on board survived.

I also double checked NCAP crash test report. NCAP rated a without ABS Trend variant as 3 star however it did mention shell as unstable - not able to take loads at further higher speeds. The crash video however shows that the steel cage held up very firm while the front part of vehicle was destroyed.

Crash video link -

In any case my choices were limited to Aspire and a Polo GT - went with Aspire because of more practicality. A look at swift and DZire accidents (many deaths) will show that Aspire is comparatively much safer in this segment.
