Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

I was very keen on this car, and it seemed to be a very practical car, I mean 100 horses, massive Engine, low maintenance, what more can you ask for. Its just that when I stood next to the car in the showroom, the car also felt that much cheaper. For ex, the alloys and the paint job on them looked like after market. The dull black interiors felt cheap. Overall, it felt like an adequate car, nothing like I'm getting more than what I paid for.

The engine too felt go kartish fun to drive. It will feel very different if you've been driving a DOHC.

Don't get me wrong, its probably a great package, but not the one I wanted to take home.

I booked a Ciaz. I know its not a burner, but this car gave me the best of exterior looks and interior feel, handling is much better than current Rapid. City was way too expensive. I'm open for suggestions if you guys have any, I may just open a new what car 8-14 l budget..

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Voted Yes - I think for small car, Figo is a great package, if i was in the market for a small car, Figo (S) certainly checks all the boxes for me. My I20 (CRDI) -2013 model does a reasonable job in city commutes, but as the speeds go higher up not a comfortable ride at all. Fords in general offer great value for money <12L class.

I really wish Ford did something like VW - Offer a Dual clutch Transmission option with the oil burner, that would be something i would love to own.

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Voted Yes but there's a waiting period of a month + for the variant so booked the regular Titanium instead. I didn't want to take any risk with the GST thing. Also the old first gen Figo need to be replaced ASAP.

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Voted NO.

While Figo S is a good option and ticks almost all boxes, I will still buy the Abarth when I can, because well, it is a special car.

If Abarth is not available any more, I will pick up Figo S.

DM- Voila, your wish has come true

I hope you heard of a car called "Ameo" that comes exactly in the trim that you are wishing for "Diesel and DSG Box" except that it's not a Ford but, a VW

Now my question to you is why aren't you considering buying it?

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Voted No. Disclaimer - Titanium+ 1.5 Diesel Figo owner here.

I really appreciate what Ford is doing with this sport version, and Fiat with the Abarth, but personally it is not to my taste.

Reasons for voting NO:
1.) Not available in the 6 air bags variant. If I know a car is available with 6 airbags, I will not settle for anything lesser.

2.) The roof wrap doesn't include the spoiler, I've wrapped my roof+spoiler in Black, and it looks better IMHO.

3.) I upgraded my wheels(15") and tyres(195/55) from day 1, and have better looking alloys(my opinion) and better tyres(Conti MC5)

4.) Cost of roof wrap + tyre/wheels upgrade won't hurt the bank and is similar to Ford's premium for the sport over the titanium variant

5.) I find the suspension on my Figo good enough for spirited driving, as I don't plan to track the Figo(99.5% owners won't). Ride is good, wouldn't want it any stiffer. Lowering springs are available as an aftermarket option should anyone want a proper slammed look.

6.) If Ford really wanted to make this a sporty offering, they should have made the gearbox better, as that is my number 1 grouse with the car, and a slightly heavier more feel-some steering.

7.) Side-sticker looks tacky

So to summarize, I would still buy the 1.5 Titanium+ Diesel, and carry out the MODS as per my preference.

Hey Avi - I have in the recent past owned a German (Pleasure) and a Korean (workhorse), that combination has served me well , that said, things change with a little motivation from friends like yourself

Cheers

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Aspire TDCi Titanium+ owner here.I will buy it again only if Ford releases a Titanium+ variant in the future.I have listed the reasons for why that is my stand in an earlier post in the official Aspire thread, before the official review for Figo S edition came out.Allow me to add a link here for it-

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post4187914

One thing I learned after reading the official review is that the ride quality hasn't suffered much due to the usage of stiffer springs.A big thumbs up to Ford for that.

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

This is for all those people talking about Aspire's light body shell.

This Aspire presumably with 6 airbags with 5 people onboard all of whom survived this horrible sandwich crash

https://www.thrustzone.com/ford-aspi...board-survive/

Another important and unusual point to note is all passengers where wearing their seat belt which clearly drives home the point; Seat belt saves lives

I had posted this image in the official thread of the Aspire.

Figo Trend t-boned by truck, and passengers walked away without a scratch.

Just noticed that this is a Figo, not the Aspire. Note the black interiors, fixed rear headrests and rear wiper.

Also may not be the Titanium+ as only the front airbags are visible. And what looks like the MyFord Dock is also visible in the front.

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Voted YES.

I own the Figo 1.5D and I just love my car.

The factors i mostly looked at while purchasing are:
1) Fun-To-Drive factor
2) Handling
3) Frugal ownership
4) Magic feel when you hold the steering wheel

This car ticks all the above boxes perfectly. Those who have driven it hard know that grin it plants on the face. I have seen it on my Dad's(he owns the Swift Dzire(D)). and friends'(owners of i20 elite, baleno, ritz) faces.

Sure, it has its share of quirks,
1) Clutch travel long and springy.
2) Slightly notchy gearbox.
3) Build quality not upto the par.
4) Not so sharp steering.
5) Anti-stall makes you wonder a little what is happening at crawling speeds.
6) Not-so-Wow-interiors
7) Back seat require a little more longer and raised under-thigh support

At the given pricepoint it is a terrific package. And if I was purchasing in the market today, the Figo S 1.5D would be my choice. I am envious of those who are going to buy it.

Shared my 2 pence.

Re: Would you buy the Ford Figo / Aspire Sports Edition?

Voted "Yes". I own a 1st Gen Figo D and have completely understood the nitty-gritty of this brand. Have built a strong relationship with the service centre/manufacturer (medium and senior level connect) and the maintenance costs have become cheaper now.

Apart from this, I like its 1.5 engine and driveability.

Planning to upgrade to Aspire, but not sure about Sports edition.

@Mobike008 - What is the mileage when driven at 3 digit speeds?

Well, I'm a spirited driver 95% of time with a rather heavy foot. The maximum FE that I got was 18.5kmpl and worst was 14.5kmpl

Infact, best mileage was over last weekend trip of 1450kms. During the onward journey got 18.5kmpl despite keeping a crisp pace (Hyderabad to Pune, 585kms in 9.5 hours)

If you like to enjoy the car for what it's built then dont expect more than 16kmpl-17kmpl which according to me is fantastic fuel efficiency
