How about Honda City. I owned one before and back seat comfort is a delight with ample leg room. Even has a competent CVT gearbox. Honda reliability is a big plus as well. AC is a chiller. Most useful features are there to use. Only Audio system is lacking but that can be done after market as well.

If you are looking at Compact Suv segment then finding rear seat comfort will be a bit tough. Korean twins are good options but ride quality won't be as good as you desire. Everything else will go over budget of 18 lacs easily. Compromise had to be made and it's upto you what you can compromise about.

there is no car that gets everything done, compromises in one or the other aspect will be there if you are constrained by a certain budget, I specifically mentioned each has its own pros and cons, a test drive is must whatever the case.

There are a few Suggestions for Nexon, city (with potholes) ride quality Is BAD.

The best car that comes to mind is Baleno 2022. The down side is The Automatic is AGS and no longer CVT. If you guys can live with that it should serve you guys well. Also AC I found was OK and not great on a good hot day.

Noise levels ( I don't know your expectations level) but is never less in this price band.

Rear comfort will always be more in a Sedan/hatch back than in any SUVs/cSUVs.

Hope it helps.

Any chance you want to try the XL6? My only concern is refinement in terms of road noise. You may want to check it out. It sort of meets all your requirements.

Not a fun car but would most likely meet your needs.

I will have to compromise on ground clearance, mileage, and ease of getting in and out, right? If I'm considering sedans, how is the Skoda Slavia in comparison to the City?

I was considering it very seriously but it doesn't have a hand rest for the rear seat. That is a total nonstarter.

Thank you. Looks dated but let me look into it.

Ahem ! Off topic, any idea what should be the ideal price for a preowned 4×4 Hexa ? On OLX they cost north of 12L +.

As per my experience, you can get reasonable estimation at https://orangebookvalue.com/
However, today's pre-owned market has gone crazy due to general waiting period for new cars & associated shortages.
You need to do hard negotiations to get good price.
If possible, try to avoid dealers & you can save close to 15-20%
Happy shopping.

Re: Best ride quality for broken city roads | Budget of 15-lakhs

Can anyone recommend which rides better- Nexon EV max or the ZS ev?

I’m looking for an EV and my main requirement is ride comfort on bad roads, speed breakers and potholes. A typical mumbai road is what the car would drive on.

Can any nexon/zs ev owner share the ride quality feedback?

Re: Best ride quality for broken city roads | Budget of 15-lakhs

Since its for city ride dont go for anything other than Automatic
If I were you I would have chosen between
Nexon , XUV 300 , Kiger and Magnite
Nexon is overall the best car- Great looks and interior , good ground clearance, USP -the only car with ventilated seats in the list
but the point that goes against you is Nexon is a better highway car than a city car its not a very good car at low speeds in AMT .
Still i will rate it no1 mainly because it has ventilated seats which will add to comfort in indian summers most importantly it dosent have any deal breaker other than its a Tata brand ( didnt have a good image in the past ) .

XUV 300 - best refined engine ,
Negatives - ground clearance of 180 ( bit less for a suv ) , lack of boot space , dated interiors

Magnite - Best automatic ( CVT) with a very smooth engine
Negatives - Nissan is not an established brand in india , The steering of Nissan has a centering problem( this is my personal assesment )

Kiger - You can consider it if you like Magnite but want to avoid the Nissan brand and Magnite's steering centering problem .
Negatives- i dont like the quality of interior .

Test ride all cars and make your decision .
