@ZittingCisticol

I was in a similar situation, except it was the Virtus instead of the Slavia, Altroz & Amaze remaining same. I wanted an automatic though.

In a battle of heart vs head, the head won this time and I booked the Altroz DCA with the logic that my city usage would be 80% and that too in B2B traffic so compact size is more important than other factors.

I really liked the Amaze CVT and if not for the upcoming facelift, I would have gotten it. The 2024 facelift would be radically different from the current version, as per rumours. So no point in buying a model which is at end of its life cycle. I own a Brio so can say that Honda service is good if not best.

If your heart wants the Slavia, go for it, you won't go wrong since you are opting the manual. But don't forget to TD City & Nexon. Another option would be Elevate. Do check it out.

I haven't got it yet (pending couple of TDs), but if I do, I'll be booking that vehicle then and there.

I feel you have enough vote to decide what other BHPians think. It all boils down to what makes you feel good and satisfied when you drive the car in all aspects (not just drivability but also in terms of finances etc.)

My personal opinion, in case you like to keep your cars for long (more than 6-7 years) then Honda elevate CVT is a clear winner in all aspects (better engine, better transmission and better quality) in comparison with the other two. There would be negligible headache during your ownership.

On the other hand with Altroz or Nexon DCA the feeling of driving something feature rich which would last only a year or two and would die down once you start noticing the engine vibrations, small quality issues and poor after sales. But the only near term benefit would be 70 K difference.

Good luck with your TDs. Cheers!

I'm facing a similar multi-segment dilemma, any help would be much appreciated!

My needs are similar to Devansh88's. In order of priority:
1. Safety & comfort (to travel and to drive)
2. Reliability (minimal service runs)

Good to have:
3. Fuel efficiency
4. Not a bad resale value (I'm thinking 5-7 years)
5. Acceptable power (don't need a powerhorse, but it should be able to easily handle basic aspects like overtaking)

Sorry I am so confused!

1. Top of your priority is comfort (to travel and to drive) but you are not considering automatic transmission.
2. Your budget is 8-10 lakhs but Salvia is in the list.
3. Fuel efficiency is good to have but diesel is not mentioned.

Let me recommend few options.

1. Sonet diesel AT (6 speed TC) - Great mileage, good engine. Consider this only if you are driving more than 800~900 KM/month. Otherwise stick to petrol.
2. Honda Amaze 1.2l pertol CVT - Not bad for a city car but lower GC and mileage than the first option. However budget friendly.
3. Honda City manual is a gem if you are willing to stretch more in terms of budget.
4. Slavia/Virtus might seem to be a good option at first but its a costly affair in terms of maintenance in the long run.

Note: Not sure why you are not considering Brezza, Creta or Seltos manual. They are all NA petrol and great in terms of fuss free maintenance.

Appreciate your advice, thank you!

To some of your questions: Honda CVT was smooth, but I'm more comfortable with MT. Slavia & City were on the list because I liked driving them. I want to stick to Petrol, I don't drive as much for diesel to make sense.

Didn't consider Kia because I don't have a good opinion about the company. I did try Brezza and Creta (after I wrote the post). They were both lovely and smooth to drive. I realised that I have a personal preference towards sedans over SUV/crossovers. I cannot pin it down, but I find it more comfortable to ride in a sedan (perhaps it's the greater roll). This could just be the effect of the SUVs I've driven so far.

I ended up booking an Amaze :) Loved the City, but I think I'll have an easier time driving a <4m car for now through narrow and rural roads. Hope I'm not making a mistake.

Thanks for your reply. I feed relieved with the confusion gone :)

Amaze is a wonderful car and if sedan is your thing then go for it.

However Amaze is a 3995 mm car against 4312 mm in case of Elevate. Though it looks way bigger but its nothing more than a 30cm wooden/plastic scale we have used or got beaten up in school. Don't let it beat you up when you are making car buying decisions :p

jokes apart. hope you have driven Elevate as well and the base SV MT variant offers a lot more in terms of power, safety and space. The difference is of ~2 lakhs which in the long run of 5-7 years gets dissolved.

If the you still think Amaze ride and handling is better than Elevate then :thumbs up or else do bug your SA for more TDs with both these cars.

Thank you! Dang, I didn't TD the Elevate. I didn't even consider the Elevate because I just thought prima facie that it would be too expensive (given my experience with other SUVs). I've put in a booking but not billed the Amaze yet. Thanks for your suggestion - I'll try to do a TD.

We see the below options to buy :-
1. Honda Elevate ZX :- Keep the booking? How much difference does the 4m vs 4.3m within city? Expensive but will hold on to the car for long term (10 years) if possible but uncertain on that especially with the increasing popularity of EV transition.
2. Altroz DCA :- Buy, hope that it works well and replace it at the end of 3 to 4 years once we are confident drivers and save almost 8L now ?
3. Brezza ZXI+ :- Compromise on the interiors and save the ~2.5L?
4. Wait for BNCAP results on cars like Venue/Sonet ? A factor which came after seeing the Verna's 5* GNCAP rating but unsure how long that will take. We started the seach from August and still havent finalized any car.

I would really like some opinions, Thanks!

Went ahead and got the Elevate ZX CVT, had to stretch the budget but hoping its the right decision in the longer run. Have had no problem driving it in the city and even on narrow bangalore roads which google maps leads me to and have used the larger boot space to a good effect (something which I discounted during the purchase). While Im not entirely happy with the purchase, still feel its the better choice among others still available as of today.
