What Car?
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-car/)
A 2.2 lakh discount for a year-old car seems too low, not to mention the warranty having started and the dealer's insistence on payment of 2 lakh before the PDI.
Moreover, Honda Elevate has official offers as follows:
ZX (MT) Benefits upto ₹ 66,100/-
SV/V/VX (MT) Benefits upto ₹ 56,100/-
Apex Edition (MT) Benefits upto ₹ 45,000/-
ZX (CVT) Benefits upto ₹ 86,100/-
V/VX (CVT) Benefits upto ₹ 71,100/-
Apex Edition (CVT) Benefits upto ₹ 46,100/-
ZX (CVT) Black Benefits upto ₹ 66,100/-
(MY'24) ZX (MT) Benefits upto ₹ 86,100/-
(MY'24) SV/V/VX (MT) Benefits upto ₹ 76,100/-
(MY'24) Apex Edition (MT) Benefits upto ₹ 65,000/-
So it is just effectively a Rs.1,33,900 extra discount whereas you could get a brand new one with Rs.86,100 discount, which is the better option. Moreover, some dealers with huge stocks are offering up to 1.25 lakh discounts on MY 2024 stock, so this deal of 2.2 lakh on a year-old Elevate is a strict NO
Thank you all for your insightful comments. I will definitely speak with my B-I-L and suggest that he either abandon this car altogether for his peace of mind or proceed very cautiously. I will also make sure that he does not make any advance payments before completing the PDI.

If the warranty has already begun, it means it is already invoiced in the Dealer - OEM CRM tool. It may have been sold to someone who rejected it before registration and got cancelled or most likely dealer himself entered it as a sale in the system and used it for demo purposes for an year. |
Thank you, I was looking for the actual reason for the warranty to have started and the SA telling him that they can only hold it for 6 months and then the warranty starts was complete BS.

Warranty has already begun - there is no reason for this unless the car has already been registered before. |
Yes, might be a customer getting cold feet at the last moment or some similar kind of situation.
SA mentioned he has "Only 4 such cars left" with him. So I am guessing these might be the display cars used for promotional activities in malls, parks etc?

Thank you! Are these offers available at all Honda dealers? My B-I-L asked about offers on 2025 models but the SA denied any discount straightaway.
As I am not based in Bengaluru, I cannot accompany him but when I checked in Ahmedabad, there are offers of around 60k on Elevate 2025 models so I am guessing the dealer they chose is shady or the SA is playing tricks.
Do you have any references for a trusted Honda dealership in Bengaluru?
Edit: Sorry, just saw that you are based in Muscat. So you can ignore my question about the reference.

Rightfully said! Thank you :)

I have a cousin of mine who recently bought a Honda Elevate from Bengaluru, let me see if I can get the contact number of the SA, Moreover, the numbers I posted are from the official Honda Website and here is the official offer banner

Thank you very much kind sir! I really appreciate your help.
Old stock can get stuck in inventory for genuine reasons sometimes, but the moment transparency goes out the window, it's a NO GO. Old or new doesn't matter (plenty of ways a brand new car off the truck can be ruined too).
Just walk away.
Hello everybody. My relative picked up a Honda elevate V CVT R Edition from Dehradun. MY 2024 - October, for 14,50,000 OTR with UP registration. He got it a month back and has been very content with it. I think the Honda elevate is a steal deal at that price.
I also think that MY 2024 - April manufacturing is a little too old for a brand new car being bought in 2025, you don't know why it has been standing for so long. A 5 - 6 month period according to me is still okay with thorough checking.

Is this deal too good to be true? |
If something is too good to be true, it definitely is not true in almost all cases. Plus paying 2L before PDI feels fishy, what if you don't like the car after PDI? Will the 2L be refunded? If yes, go about it, if no, then ignore it. Too much risk IMO.
There is no reason why warranty would have started without sale. Something isn't right and the dealer is hiding relevant facts. Also, refusal for PDI is a definite sign of ill intention.
There is absolutely no reason for demanding 2 Lakhs for a vehicle that the dealer is not even ready to allow you to inspect. It's not a small amount to be plonked down sight unseen. Don't take the risk, the discount is not sufficient to cover all the possible issues that may arise.
Keep searching, you will certainly find another Elevate without all these problems.
Please walk away from the deal. Warrenty should never start on an unsold vehicle. As stated by our esteemed members the vehicle appears to be returned/demo vehicle.
If the car is already with the dealer, why not allow a PDI first? Why demand ₹2 lakh just for a PDI? Such an advance payment would make sense if the dealer were ordering a fresh unit from the factory, but in this case, it’s a clear red flag. Even with a PDI, unless conducted by a trained professional, potential issues can easily go unnoticed.
As for the warranty, it typically starts when the car is invoiced. I’ve seen cars that are 6–8 months old being sold at a discount, but their warranty always begins from the invoice date. If Honda has a policy stating that the warranty starts within six months of manufacturing, ask the dealer for an official document confirming this.
Since there are already good discounts available on the Elevate, it’s best to walk away from this deal.
Stating the obvious which all others have already mentioned: please stay away. Consumer rights are the lowest priority in todays unscrupulous age. The potential heartburn and sheers headache is not worth the claimed savings.
It is true though that Honda is the only OEM providing upto 10 years warranty, still safer to avoid.
The risk vs reward doesn’t seems to be encouraging to go for the deal.
Considering this is the first car which he is trying to purchase, always advisable to go with fresh and new.
2L is just few thousands in 5 years car EMI.
In recent days, established preowned car dealerships such as Spinny, cars24 are flagging cars with huge difference in registered date and manufactured date. 2L which you gain will be lost in resale.
Hi
You can reach out to me via PM. I deal with HCIL dealers in Bengaluru and should be able to get the exact information from them without revealing the details. Also, if your BIL intends to stick with Elevate, then we can reach out to the MD of HCIL dealership in Bengaluru.
Besides, whatsoever discount being offered, my mother always says, “Sasta Roye Baar Baar, Mehnga Roye Ek Baar”!

Hello All,
My brother-in-law who works in Bengaluru is buying his first car and has finalized Elevate. There is a dealer who is offering 2.2L discount on the ZX trim but it is manufactured in April 2024. The main question is, should he buy it? What things need to be checked before proceeding with the purchase?
I am also concerned about the condition of the car as it has been sitting idle in the stockyard for almost a year now.

Please go through my experience on this thread.

PDI alone does not suffice; things change as long as the vehicle remains at the dealership. My suggestion is to bargain for Rs.3 lakh discount. Honda cars are mostly reliable, so buying this car is not a gamble, unlike a Skoda or VW, but just check for any body repairs, which can impact the safety of the vehicle.
If it's a model Manufactured in April 24, most probably it seems to be a non-R variant. There might be a possibility that the vehicle has already been billed in Tally but then canceled before registration possibly due to owner declining.
Spend extra for peace of mind.
