My suggestions:

1. Chauffer Drive Innova
2. Self-driven Honda City ZX CVT

OT - Please invite "the safari people I know" referred to above to the forum, because we seem to have a deficit in that matter - most of the guys here seem to be happy with their trucks.

The solution here is to see which car offers a good amount of lumbar support, Some cars offer adjustable lumbar support, like the new Indica Vista, but heard it was not too good.

I've been suffering a lot from back pains over the last six months, I feel that firm, comfortable big seats are the answer. Under 10 lac segment, no car has good seats apart from safari, optra & Innova.
I am 6' tall & have found that most cars accomodate medium built people well. But for tall people, the leg room & under thigh support is extremely important.
The back supports like Amaron are also helpful.

My vote would go for the Optra. It would fit in your 10L budget and the car is silky smooth. I personally own an Optra and would vouch for its high comfort level.

Try Mahindra Xylo. People have said it has better seats than Innova's.

Look at either Optra or Innova. Actually love the seats in Innova.

Altis Top-end models have adjustable lumbar support, but only for the driver seat. Other seats are also very comfortable. Try that

Back pain & if you are driving in dense traffice/city, where you have to do frequent grear change etc, you better look for auto box! I20 has a auto, ANHC has one. On Honda you would't notice a huge fuel difference and has good seating comfort!

Re: back pain - most comfortable car

Bumping the thread back again. It calls for a dip stick on which are the cars in 2012/13 that will provide a good comfortable ride for both as a driver and as a rear seat passenger.

Re: back pain - most comfortable car

I bought a new Wagon R in 2010 July to alleviate my back soreness due to excessive bike commute in the city. I sold off my bike and my Waggy is now the only transportation I use.
It hasn't disappointed me till date. (Touch Wood)

If you are looking for a sub 5L hatchback I suggest a Wagon R which is a superb car in this segment.

Better still go for an i10 auto if budget permits. I wish I had the budget when I bought my Waggy, would have gone for the i10 auto myself. No auto option for the Waggy.

Re: back pain - most comfortable car

What would be the best 8 to 10 lakh car (on road price) that has good suspension vis a vis back pain? Consequently good handling is not a criteria. Engine should be powerful for good pickup and effortless driving.
