Ajay, As others specified best option within the said budget will be Pre-2001 Santros, Car Zens... Might be a bit difficult to source some nice Maruti 1000 or Esteems but if found i think it might suffice your needs best, in term of ICE installation with lots of boot space.

Maruti 1000/Esteem - "India's first BIG car"

Best of Luck !!

Sir, for sure if I buy a M800, I will take you for a wild drive just like the time we were last time in 800 when you were in Mumbai.

You evidently have no clue about my Sierra woes (there's a thread about it somewhere). I used to have one that met with an "accident". Sold it for 30k after spending 1L+ on it in the 6 months preceding its sale.

B&T, this suggestion is seriously worth considering. A totally-iced out Nano will get your firm more eyeballs than any hatch or sedan. Plus, it will be brand new. Plus +, you can push it to the side of the road (with one hand too!).

More than anything, the Nano is super cool! I'd pick it for an ICE project.

Another option. Indica Petrol. LSi/Xeta etc.
Power steering, space, hatch, should be available at that price, decent 'availability' of a/s/s (not commenting on the quality of a/s/s).

The only problem could be that Nano could have a long waiting period. I think at that price, the used Marutis are the best option. Zen-D should do the trick for you.

I don't think you get 1.2's for that price anymore

Btw how about a Astra? though not easy as a Maruit's to maintain...

is it from a maintenance point of view? I know it had a lot of issues when it was launched and was subsequently discontinued. But didn't Maruti fix it mostly? I would certainly like some info on this.

hi ajay,
i think you should go for marutis. within a budget of 1.25 lacs its obvious you will be getting an old zen/esteem etc. but Maruti has a very cheap option of Half Engine which costs just around 12-15 k. that means you can easily have a brand new engine. so keeping this in mind you can go for a P.S zen with migh mileage in that budget of yours and think of engine renovation.

To find a good alto at 1.25 L is tough.
