Ah, just all the regular stuff which all us auto-aficionados do. I think the title is bit too...egoistic.

Venky, considered the San Storm? The girls will love it.
San Storm? You know, you buy a car at the behest of a girl friend, and she dumps you, and you are stuck with something you got for her rather than yourself. Considering climbing divorce rates, buying a car at the behest of even a wife is dangerous.

Secondly, I am not into cruising by Empire on Church street with tub thumping music @ 15 kmph on a Saturday night in a coupe - even though my age belies otherwise. No sir. Would rather be in some jungle on any given Saturday night. Call me what you will...as Shahnawaz said...Jungle Uncle

Ofcourse, if the car is a Mustang or a Corvette...well...am blushing now.

See, if you cruise Church Street in a San Storm, the girls will love it.
If you do the same in a Mustang or Corvette, you'll be surrounded by (male) TBHPians - your choice of jungle.

Make sure your Bolero's radio is tuned to Radio One - as we have seen, that's the one.

I'll put it this way. Girl friend's change. Guy friends don't. Any of you dumped a guy-friend?

No, no, this is not a rebound from a bad relationship. I just hope any girl I am seeing does not log into TBHP and view my history of posts and then decide to dump me.

And what makes you think I wont tub thump in my car? Maybe not in Church street...but elsewhere for sure.

Regardless of whatever you end up buying, I must say I loved each and every post of yours on this thread. A way with words, if I my say so.

P.S. My vote for the Bolero for go-anywhere reliability. In a day and age when Maruti A-star Ads say "Explore", you wonder if you are a minority.

Pretty much the Bolero 2WD. Its unfortunate that the XD3P engine is not available in 2wd form. I will stick with the DI. Great torque, superb mileage, unforeseen reliability, and untouchable re-sale values. Considering the steering is vague at high speeds, I prefer the DI over the CRDE simply for safety (and price ofcourse...did I say I was cheap?).

Now I am trying to negotiate with Sireesh Motors for discounts/freebies. If anyone have any good/strong contacts there, please do PM me those details. I will buy you fizzy drinks that help you see stars.

Wonder where he will take his Bolero to -- jungle uncle in the making.

Sireesh quotes about 545k on road and India Garage quotes 550k. I checked on their Road tax charges (as discussed on another thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post1160462 ) and found that they are overcharging me by 7G on the road tax alone.

I have another question too. Almost all the showrooms mention that Insurance is mandatory from them. Why is this so? Is that legal? Why cant I choose my insurance provider and do it myself?

Insurance is mandatory. Period. From them: ?? Not at all.
You can choose your company and get it done from them, including transfer of NCB, if applicable.
Spring this to them (dealer) as a last minute surprise, after all negotiations!
That's how we cheapos always operate!

No need to brandish swords, just say firmly that you will arrange for insurance yourself. I got it done for the Safari from Tata AIG though for some reason, they were not on the dealer's (Concorde) preferred list. The dealer was insisting on Oriental / Bajaj Allianz, my financier (HDFC) was insisting on Bajaj Allianz but I said "only Tata AIG".

You need support staff? We have a Bolero club going we can end up there in 15-16 Bolero's to give them a scare.
