No Its not Speedy. As Karl pointed out, no Tata product came with an OM-616 engine. It was the Matador/Trax which in fact used the particular engine, but im sure you meant that only as I know, that you know your cars and that was a typo.:)

sorry: for that i meant to write trax, and not tata 407. but was doing three things at a time so did not check.
is this the maroon 300 td with the golden BBS wheels that you picked up or the blue one with wheel caps.

there were four 300 td's in bombay as far as my knowledge goes ishan. one went to the scrappers too. was offered the bumpeers for my car.

Uh, Merc. gurus, ek sawAl- what does 'OM' (as in OM616) stand for?

OM = otto motor

The germans call diesel engines otto motor due to the otto cycle

Ohh...ok.....but doesnt such an engine from a Matador or Trax grafted onto a Merc. decrease the car's value?

Yes thats the model code - W123. But the year mentioned is 1884, so 2007 - 1884 = 123.:p

Obviously its a typing error, it can't be 1884.:uncontrol

Aahh.... how completely silly of me!! :Frustrati

Thanks -GS- !:Cheering:
