Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

So...after lot of deliberation, reading countless reviews and calculating my finances (!!), I finally booked a Grand I 10 Asta 1.2 (AT), Color - Stardust

Ex Showroom price - 6,69,891/-
Comprehensive Insurance (B to B) - 25,875/-
Road Tax and Registration Charges - 38,569/-
Registration number plate - 505/-
HP (what is this) - 100/-

Total - 7,34,940/-

Discount - 20,000
Freebies - Under body rust coating, leather cover, mud flap, body cover, steering cover and Car perfume.

Could the experienced folks please answer the following queries -

1) The comprehensive insurance is for how many years. Do I have to shell out every year 25 k for insurance?
2) The road tax and registration charges is for how many years?
3) Should I go for additional warranty?
4) What is the difference between warranty and insurance.

If these questions have already been answered then please do direct me to the correct blog.

Thanks a lot.

Congratulations.To answer your queries:
1. Insurance is for one year. Yes you will have to shell out after 12 months. If you haven't made any claim, then the cost comes down quite a bit due to "no claim bonus"

2. That is for lifetime (or 15 years). Unless you move states and then you have to pay some yearly tax to that RTO

3. I would advise you to do so. A small investment for peace of mind

4. Warranty is covered by manufacturer for defects. Insurance will cover your car against "stuff" happening- like damage due to accidents, riots, floods etc. You may want to read the fine print on your insurance policy on what type of accidents/ damages are covered.

Cheers
Ajay

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

I booked my XUV500 W6 (White) today

Ex-showroom: 13,20,615
Registration: 1,66,228
Comp Insurance: 55,634
PCMC LBT (Tax): 39,618
Handling Charges: 2,700
On Road: 15,84,795
Discounts: 73,795

Final Price: 15,11,000

Other things negotiated: Included Zero dep. insurance add-on, 21% discount on all accessories (I need at-least alloy wheels and fog lamps)

I was researching insurance prices online (Policy bazaar) and found out that the insurance would cost me close to half the price of what the dealer is quoting. And that is including Zero Dep., Invoice price and 24x7 roadside assistance. The dealer is ok with me getting insurance elsewhere.

The experience was quite good. No pressure tactics employed and even offered information (not criticism) on alternative options. My wife was concerned about the car not fitting in our apartment's parking space, so the SA offered to bring the car to our apartment and see if it would fit. It did.

I have been getting quotes from other Mahindra dealers around the city so I think it's a reasonably good deal, if not the best I could have gotten.

Any further things that I can negotiate on?

Hi, congratulations on your new car. I believe handling charges were illegal. Did you try asking to waive it off?

I did try to get it waived off but, the dealers were quite insistent that they won't be able to sell the car without the handling charges. I even went as far as calling ford customer care but nothing. Ford themselves are saying that handling charges are acceptable to them and they expect customers to pay for them. What to do?

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

I had booked Renault kwid RXT(O) silver colour in September 2015 through online APP. I was told by the dealer that I will get car by october end. I did not get any information about delivery by october end, even after shooting many emails. Finally I ended up buying baleno petrol. I still did not cancel my booking, but stopped following up with my kwid booking. I got a call from dealer last month saying car is in transit. But I changed my mind and decided to go for bronze color. Now, finally I am getting the car next week

On road price : 4.36 lakhs which includes zero depreciation insurance and 5k worth basic accessories

Ask Ford to provide this in writing. This is the max you have to do.

Whenever I buy any car or a bike, I pay the showroom only its ex-showroom price, rest everything, I get outside.

Trouble getting your car registered? Calculate the tax prevalent in your state and pay them that only.

Just a thought why don't you look at the baleno. For this price you can get a mid spec baleno with most of the features of the swift including airbags in a bigger spacious and a newer car. The swift has been practically unchanged since 4 years so if you have a nexa outlet nearby you should give it a look.
