My Ford SA took me to their yard; asked me to check which car I wanted (there were two of the same color/variant) and based on that, put it in their system.

The Tata SA however, a) made me feel as if she's doing me a tremendous favor by allowing a PDI, b) said I'll have to make complete payment first, after which she'll enter my booking in the system, which will allocate me a car and then I can do PDI.

Either way, you can refuse a car up to the point it is going for RTO registration. Tell your SA, it is PDI or no deal.

Nothing other that what is available online. I haven't even spoken to anybody at the dealership, booked it online!

Interestingly, I had logged in yesterday to book. Didn't complete the payment as I wanted to sleep over it. In few hours, got a call from Hyundai India asking me if I need help with completing the payment. I said I need Rs 11,000, but he didn't get the joke . He clarified that if I cancel the booking the dealer, NOT Hyundai, will be responsible for giving my money back.

But it does look like Hyundai is going all guns blazing with this launch. Hope the success doesn't go to the head, and they price it appropriately.

I have decided to cancel this booking. I didn't like the fact that I have to chose between safety (2 airbags) and convenience (AMT). Tiago XZA(top-end) after about 40k discounts was priced same as Santro Magna AMT. So decided to take the Tiago instead. But by the time I could make up my mind, the discounts on Tiago were gone. So waiting to see what next.
