Congrats on the booking! 25k sounds reasonable, from what you said it seems that Maruti is not planning to launch a ZDI Variant.

It would be really helpful if you could provide any update for the ZDI, Now that you have booked the Gen 2 i assume you will be the first one to know.

PS: I just happened to read in another thread that the Swift Gen 2 launch has been delayed till November.

re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

5-6 months of dilemma! Tremendous confusion between whether to go for Linea or Optra. Linea was finalized, but suddenly Scorpio came to party. Wife, parents and friends did everything to rev up the confusion. Quite a lot number of test drives and quite a lot of Team-BHP. Finally decided to go for Scorpio. So booked one yesterday on occasion of gudhi padwa.

Make : Mahindra
Model : Scorpio
Variant : VLX, Air Bags, 4WD.
Fuel : Diesel
Booking Date : 04-04-2011
Color : Mystic / Mystique Purple
Expected Delivery Date : 3 months after
Dealer & City : Silver Jubilee (Pune)
Freebies : Accessories worth 5000.
Others : 50% off on insurance.

So far so good.

Now bitter part (Well not that bitter, but still). Apparently Mystique Purple color has been discontinued (dealer will try to get if there's one in company stock). Can you believe, me and all my family members preferred this color. (Everyone agreeing upon one thing, dream come true man, dream come true). But, looks like this not the dreaming to come true. On the other side if this color isn't possible (chances of which are pretty high), I'm not sure which other color to pick. Everyone from the family inclined towards white and me towards black. So I have mentioned secondary choice as "White". But another thing (I'm not quite sure about this), white (or any light colored) Scorpio comes with tan and beige interiors (even in VLX) and dark colored vehicles (brown, black) come with "black allure" scheme (which IMO is the best). Dealer will be confirming this soon, but if that's the case I will definitely opt for "Fiery Black".

Guys, if anybody has bought a 4x4 recently, how much was the waiting period?

Congratulations !!!

Could you please mention the final OTR price for VLX 4x4?

IMHO, White Scorpio looks most outstanding than in other colors.

re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Thanks Ajay!
By the way, VLX 4x4 goes around 12.25, air bags cost its 12.47 on road.

And yes, you're right, white Scorpio looks most outstanding. In my words, white Scorpio flaunts its muscles pretty well than any other colors. Whereas the dark colors do conceal some of the body definitions.

re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

and canceled the booking yesterday.

Reasons:
1) Unavailability of mystique purple color.
2) So I chose "diamond white", but came to know that "Black Allure" interior scheme only comes with dark colored cars (black, brown etc)
3) Still I was ok with that. So I changed the color to "Black". Yesterday went to showroom (as they needed my signature on color selection). While we were having some informal chat the sales representative mentions Scorpio prices have been hiked by 10k to 25k. She checked the prices for VLX 4x4 ABags. The new price is 12.97 OTR
2 days earlier, it was 12.47. For 4x4 variant there's a max hike, but 50K? That's huge! suddenly all the reasons why I chose Scorpio started diminishing. Perhaps Scorpio is still VFM, but for me it was "satisfaction for money", which kept reducing drastically. I'm all stretching myself till 12.5 L, not getting the color I liked, not getting the interiors I wanted and now I have to shell 50k more. Spending 13L and so many adjustments. So I chose to not to.

Ohhh man, sad to hear that. 50k difference in such a short span is not bearable.

If you don't mind, why don't you look at Xylo? In your budget (infact much lesser than that) you will get the top-end Xylo. Xylo is known to be moving like a boat at high speeds, but that is the only major issue, otherwise, its a good VFM people carrier. You can even get an Innova in the same budget.

You can even get an Innova in the same budget.
My parents were saying the same thing "go for Xylo", but somehow I don't feel see Xylo as personal vehicle its more of a family vehicle. Same is the case with Innova, which is also quite costlier as well. I was stretching my budget after looking at 4x4. Now I could go for some mid class sedan or even hatch and save a big!
(something like blessing in disguise)

re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Finally booked a Swift Diesel VDI with ABS and mentioned to sales rep that the booking is for Gen2 model.

Make : Maruti Suzuki
Model: Swift (Gen 2)
Variant: VDI ABS
Colour: Black
Booked: 10 April 2011
Delivery Date: Unknown
Offers:Nil
Freebies:Nil

The sales rep said he will transfer the booking to new Gen2 swift after its launch.
Like beejay mentioned, will wait for the launch till may end or June and see what Maruti offers in new swift in reality. I am expecting (though it may not happen) atleast this time, Maruti understands that they need to add more features to a car worth ~7 lacs considering the competition from Figo & i20.

If Maruti continues to sell a diesel car with only features like A/C & Power steering even in Gen2 swift, then i would reconsider the decision and go for a different car.

I hope Maruti guys, should put themselves in customer's shoes to alteast understand, for a car worth approx. 7 lacs, they should provide reasonable number of features. Not just a car with great engine with no features which is what is happening with current swift diesel models.
I 200% agree, DDis is one of the best in class peppier engine, but IMHO that alone is not suffice for one to buy/own a car, but its more than that in entirety.
