1st Bajaj-Triumph bike launch could be pushed from '22 to '23

The first bike from this collaboration was scheduled to arrive in 2022. However, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the launch of the bike could be delayed to 2023.

Back in January 2020, Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles had announced that they will collaborate to build motorcycles in the 200-750cc range. The first bike from this collaboration was scheduled to arrive in 2022. However, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the launch of the bike could be delayed to 2023.

Bikes made by the Bajaj-Triumph alliance will be built at a new manufacturing facility at Chakan that is expected to be operational in 2022. They will have 98-99% local content. Bajaj will be responsible for the Indian market and some export markets including neighbouring countries, Asia and Africa among others. Prices of the new range of bikes will start from under Rs. 2 lakh in India.

At present, Triumph has does not have any bike under 765cc on sale in India. The British company will rely on its partnership with Bajaj to gain a foothold in the mid-size motorcycle segment in the country.

Apart from Triumph, Bajaj will build KTM and Husqvarna bikes at the Chakan factory.
